You may have noticed recent changes to my Twitter bio. After 8.5 challenging and productive years on @pathologistmag, I'm pleased to say I'm a free agent (for now). My work and friendships in #pathology will continue – and I'm excited to see where we'll go together next!

So pleased to have had the opportunity to participate in @imascientist again – and thrilled to say that the students chose me for their Genetics Zone winner! If you’re looking for a fun exercise in #SciComm that really makes a difference, I strongly recommend I'm a Scientist.

This month, I'm doing @imascientist, an online #SciComm initiative that connects school students with people in #science- and #medicine careers. I've had questions from, "Why can't we clone ourselves?" to "What did dinosaurs taste like?" I must really know my dinosaur delicacies!

So pleased and proud for everyone who matched this week. Can't believe how many new #pathology residents we're getting! But I'm just as impressed and amazed by everyone who didn't match. I've been there and it's heartbreaking – but it's temporary. You WILL get there. #Match2023

Thrilled to see this @DCF_path capstone project become a reality at #USCAP2023 – and sorry not to be there to see it myself. Congratulations, @punjbiopsy (and of course Fellowship co-director @KMirza)!
With Dr. Lavisha Punjabi @punjbiopsy at #USCAP2023 @TheUSCAP "The use of social media for #Pathology education: A perspective from Asia." Elon @elonmusk, @Twitter is still a great tool for #MedEd 🙌🏽 #MedEd #SoMe #HCSM #PathTwitterFamily

Woke up randomly excited that our amazing inaugural @DCF_path fellow, @punjbiopsy, will be presenting her capstone research at #USCAP2023. Look closely at the poster and you might even see some other familiar names. (If I can't be there in person, I'll be there in writing!)

It was fantastic to learn directly from the social media guru. A great discussion on managing a youtube channel. With @JMGardnerMD revealing all his "secrets" to the @DCF_path fellows!

This is incredible! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 While not as dramatic or directly life saving in nature, many similar stories/messages about avoiding diagnostic pitfalls and helpful pathology info for all on #pathtwitter as well! @EM_RESUS we should do some pathology-meets-ER tweetorials! – at River Forest, IL
Here’s a message that was sent to me by an ER resident physician in training who saved a patient’s life half way across the country from me. When people ask “why teach on social media?” This is why.

Virtually attending a panel on #disability in #scicomm (specifically #science journalism). Excited to learn more – both about working in the field with a disability and about science reporting with respect to disability and disabled people!

When covering #disability, there can be a risk of focusing on "inspiration" or "heroism." Don't fall into the trap! Especially in #science and #medicine, write about disabled people in exactly the same way as you would write about any other (e.g., abled) person.

A note: be aware of "partial legitimacy." It's not uncommon for purveyors of inaccurate #science and #medicine information to use legitimate research to support inaccurate conclusions. Watch for this in your own work and don't hesitate to call it out in others'!
