8 years ago I flew to Texas expecting to chase a Cat 2 and ended up in the middle of my first Major Hurricane.
@theScantman, @ConnorWX and I ended up finding a hotel in Rockport, TX that was planning on staying open and we were eventually joined by most of the chasers in the area.
The eyewall sat over us for hours with ferocious winds that tore a wall and parts of the roof off the building. An absolutely wild night.
The storm chaser community lost a real one. Gizmo was a special dog, and I feel lucky to have spent so much time with her. Keep Reed in your thoughts please.
I am devastated to share that the love of my life, Gizmo, has passed away at the age of 17. We shared so many memories and storm chasing adventures together especially over the last 15 years. Gizmo chased over 200 tornadoes, category 5 hurricanes, and loved me unconditionally through some very hard times across hundreds of miles. We chased through the pandemic on fast-food living out of the Subaru. She beat cancer, ticks, flash floods, and was inside of a tornado with a broken leg / peg leg cast. She visited 48 states, dozens of National Parks, three Canadian provinces and was loved by many storm chasers. This will be a very difficult time

On Sunday, I got to chase with my favorite chase partners @ConnorWX and LancePants, AND give my mom a front-row-seat to the greatest show on earth. Then we celebrated with Taco Mayo and cruised some snakes on our way home. Happy Late Mother’s Day Mommer💚
