Reverse engineering used to take a specialist, a disassembler and a lot of patience, and AI agents can now inspect compiled software, explain how it works and write a working version with no source code required.
OpenAI's own system card puts GPT-6 Astra at 99.2% on SRE-Bench binary reverse engineering within four attempts, and with tools like the open-source REA server connecting agents to Hopper, Ghidra and IDA, if your team can analyze someone else's app, someone else can analyze yours.

Linux users have a new secure and fast option for running AI agents, with Perplexity releasing SPACE under the Apache 2.0 license, a Firecracker-based sandbox where agents get root access to do their work while a per-sandbox gateway enforces egress policy on every outbound connection.
Its Secure Intelligence Institute evaluated 216 runs across nine frontier models, and on 108 occasions the models tried to escape their sandboxes, with zero breaching the VM boundary even when they had access to the SPACE source code.

Every new class of workload arrives with the claim that it's too performance-sensitive for a virtual machine, and AI on GPUs is just the latest, yet the overhead usually lands under 2% because the hypervisor isn't doing arithmetic in the data path.
The real cost of bare metal was always operational, and with most customers running GPUs below 50% utilization, virtualization gives you live migration and GPU sharing for a couple of percent, which is the same trade we made for databases years ago.

Open source security company Chainguard has released Workspaces, a service designed to give agents a safe space to do their thing without disrupting the security of existing operations, running them in hardware-isolated ephemeral microVMs built from zero-CVE Chainguard OS packages and FIPS-compliant toolchains.
Credentials stay out of the workspace entirely, replaced by encrypted short-lived tokens, which addresses the bind administrators face today where an agent inherits its creator's full permissions or the user drowns in prompt fatigue approving each request.

When a developer platform fails and infrastructure, DevOps and SRE teams each own part of the system, developers wait while teams debate who should respond and who has authority to coordinate recovery.

NVIDIA today released its full Run:ai GPU orchestration platform as open source, making the scheduler, GPU fractioning operator, resource management layer and workload map freely available to the community.
But open source doesn't equate to hardware-neutral, since the fractioning layer still runs on CUDA, and teams adopting it are choosing an NVIDIA-dependent control plane for their GPU estate.

9 in 10 organizations want AI agents driving autonomous IT operations and 93% say their AI investments have met or exceeded expectations, yet more than three-quarters are hesitant to let AI make operational decisions without human approval, and only 24% extensively trust its recommendations with limited review.
Only 8% have applied AI to operations enterprise-wide and just 17% have fully unified visibility across networks, applications, endpoints and cloud, suggesting many organizations are underestimating what will clearly be a multi-year journey.

Blitzy this week added a chat interface that lets DevOps teams express intent in natural language, with a software engineer describing a desired outcome that is automatically converted into a prompt assigning a task to an AI agent, and the ability to ask agents to explain how and why certain tasks were performed.
A Build Prompt Strength scoring tool evaluates the draft against defined quality standards, and the platform's knowledge graph spans architecture, dependencies, business logic and data flows mapped back to actual code, which becomes critical when a pull request can span hundreds of thousands of lines.

ScienceLogic's 2.7 update to its Skylar AI platform adds deeper visibility and control over AI agents automating IT operations, with a catalog that traces how requests were routed through an MCP server and a gatekeeper tool that inspects and quarantines suspicious content before an agent sees it.
Very few IT teams let agents autonomously perform tasks without supervision, but as they gain confidence, those teams are evolving into supervisors of agents that handle work previously done by administrators and engineers.

Gartner projects that more than 80% of neocloud providers will cease independent operations by 2030, as the gap between massive capital expenditures and actual AI revenue leaves over $3.5 trillion exposed to impairment risk.
To justify announced spending and hit a standard 12% return on invested capital, AI data center owners would need $8.5 trillion in cumulative revenue through 2030, yet Gartner expects actual attributable AI revenues to reach no more than $3.6 trillion.

GitHub shipped a batch of GitHub Apps updates on Oct. 13 that finally give teams a narrow alternative to classic PATs, adding repository_creation:write so an automation job can create repos without also holding the power to delete and transfer them.
Classic PATs are still everywhere, easy to create, often non-expiring and broad enough to reach everything their owner can, and with AI coding agents inheriting whatever access their token carries, scoping that token is now an agent governance decision.

Most CIOs have a cloud strategy, but very few have a strategy for keeping it simple, and that gap shows up where enterprises can least afford it, in cost, risk and the friction that slows teams down.
S&P Global found 42% of companies abandoned most of their AI initiatives in 2025, up from 17% the year before, and the failure pattern points consistently to the data infrastructure beneath the models rather than the models themselves.
See why the answer isn't fewer clouds but a common data layer that lets teams see, govern and protect data wherever workloads run: buff.ly/t4ZBtzh
