Shortly after assuming office, Governor Makinde publicly alleged that Ajimobi’s administration withdrew ₦5.2 billion just weeks before leaving office and that only N19,000 remained from the funds. At the centre of that administration's financial operations was the Ministry of Finance, then headed by Bimbo Adekanmbi as Commissioner for Finance and Budget. Fast forward to today, and the same Bimbo Adekanmbi has been anointed by Governor Makinde as his most suitable successor. This leaves us with a simple question: If the Ajimobi’s administration was truly as financially reckless and compromised as Governor Makinde repeatedly claimed, how does his commissioner of finance and budget suddenly become the preferred choice to continue governing the state?
