Various Alberta governments have experimented with increased private delivery to reduce surgical wait times — but none have resulted in a long-term, sustainable reduction in wait times, by Rebecca Graff-McRae calgaryherald.com/opinion/op… via @calgaryherald @ParklandInst

Heavy rain warning for tonight and tomorrow, up to 90mm possible. Prepare accordingly. Is the catch basin by your home clear of debris? Please take a look and clear it, if needed, with thanks.

The 291 is disappearing too and turning into a white square 92... I thought the 200 numbered bus were so much better then modified versions of another bus. It was like one bus that went from Billings, it had 3 versions, with a letter, each going to a different place.

Do you support motorists speeding in school zones & safety zones? Your govt limits where this technology can be used. Your govt insists on advance notice signage. In Ottawa, all revenues go back in to road safety programs. The Police have limited resources to enforce speed limits

I want to ban assault weapons and require universal background checks. Trump promised the NRA that he’d do nothing about guns. And he means it.

As part of the Stage 2 O-Train South Extension Project, adjustments need to be made to the track at the Hunt Club Rail Bridge. This work is scheduled to take place overnight this week. Crews will be compacting the materials underneath a small section of track at the bridge.

Ottawa residents are still preparing for the new rules about garbage and recycling collection that will be implemented this fall. This is not the time to consider additional measures such as clear garbage bags. There are many ways to encourage better waste diversion without introducing new rules or making life more challenging for our residents.

Why not install pinned curbs along McCarthy and make a biking facility, thus serving two helpful purposes? It’d be a very welcome connection between Riverside Park South and Hunt Club South. #OttBike

School zones and safety zones only, per provincial legislation. At the 2024 Budget meeting, I tried to move one on to Walkley Road and both City staff and Council disagreed.

Suburban sprawl COSTS the city $465 per person per year, while high-density infill development BENEFITS the city with $606 per person of net revenue per year. There’s a really big difference between growth that more than pays for itself, and growth that just costs.
A 2021 study commissioned by the City of Ottawa demonstrated that servicing low-density greenfield development costs the City $465 per person per year while high-density infill development provides the City with $606 per capita of revenue per year. Sprawl costs. Infill is net positive on city coffers. And yet 50% of all development charges are distributed city-wide on Toronto. This means that every time a condo is built in the downtown a road gets paved in the suburbs. If you want to fix the city, right size fees + taxes for low density uses. Current model is a perverse subsidy.
