Huge congratulations to Bing! 🎉Extremely well-deserved recognition for his pioneering contributions to epigenomics, and his unwavering mentorship has shaped so many trainees, including me!
Congratulations to NYGC CEO & Scientific Director Bing Ren, PhD, elected to the @theNAMedicine! His pioneering work in epigenomics has transformed our understanding of how genome organization and gene regulation shape cellular function and disease. nygenome.org/news-events/new…

Fantastic article on Canuck memory legend Karim Nader by Samia Madwar. Karim’s 2000 reconsolidation paper was a game changer, reorienting neuroscientific studies towards a more reconstructivist view of memory.

Very excited to share the most important discovery of my career yet: your brain switches between a conscious and an unconscious mode ~15 times every second. Consciousness may depend not on where in the brain activity occurs but when.
Find out more below.

1/ We discovered something totally unexpected about the neural structure of consciousness that overturns decades of thinking on its biological basis and brings us significantly closer to the recipe for generating conscious awareness.

In 2000, neuroscientist Karim Nader made a groundbreaking discovery that changed the field forever. When a long-term memory is retrieved, he found, it temporarily becomes unstable, prone to revision or erasure. Now, Nader is facing his own cognitive decline. But the legacy of his memory work continues. thewalrus.ca/karim-nader/

I spoke with The Daily about what’s happening to math in the age of AI—and what it feels like to be a mathematician right now.
The conversation went places I hadn’t expected.
I’m grateful to @RachelAbramsNY, @annieminoff, and their team.

Your best performances will come when you are working in a way that is a full expression of you. The work becomes a natural display of your personality. This is when you not only get better results, but also love the activity — because in doing the craft, you feel alive.

High enhancer RNA levels might repress gene expression and weaken long-range enhancer-promoter interactions in a Drosophila model system
🧬🧪🔬Why are enhancers transcribed? How does it impact gene regulation? I’m excited to share our new paper in @ScienceMagazine showing that ncRNAs control the timing of gene activation in embryos. w/Mike Levine #ScienceResearch #RNA

Spatial Hi-C : New method to measure 3D genome folding in situ in tissue. Proof of concept in mouse brain tissue.
Led by the fantastic @DengYanxiang and members of his lab. Technology development contributions over several years from @abrahamjwaldman from our group.
Excited to share that Spatial Hi-C-RNA is now out in @CellCellPress! It brings the 3D genome into spatial multi-omics by co-mapping chromatin architecture and gene expression in the same tissue section. Congrats to the whole team! cell.com/cell/fulltext/S0092…
