Bitcoin didn’t succeed because of code. It succeeded because of design. Satoshi wasn’t a great programmer. His C++ was clunky and criticized, but that never mattered. The genius was in the incentive structures that keep the system in balance: miners securing for rewards, users verifying for self-interest, developers constrained by social consensus. The game theory is what makes Bitcoin work, not the elegance of the code. What’s overlooked is that most changes today are argued by people who can write code, but Bitcoin’s real oversight has always come from outside of that circle. Economists, philosophers, and everyday users. Satoshi himself belonged more to this other group. He was a systems thinker who used code as a tool, not as the essence of Bitcoin. At its core, Bitcoin is not software. It’s a social contract expressed through rules. The code simply enforces the design.

A judgment was handed down today related to the COPA/Wright hearing in London on March 7. Mellor has imposed a three-year General Civil Restraint Order (GCRO) on Wright, infinitely extensible.
A GCRO is the most restrictive of the types of restraint orders. It prevents Wright from bringing any legal action at all in England without first obtaining the court's permission.
I'll leave it to actual legal minds to explain any nuances.

Today is the deepseek moment for Bitcoin mining.
Because this block was found in a public way we are able to get access to low level logging on the Apollo II.
Block found, proccessed, and submitted to the Bitcoin network within 500ms (half a second).
This with 300 dollars worth of compute hardware and a basic internet connection.
Public Cos and others spend millions on infrastructure costs, and convinced the whole Bitcoin community that this is require to find blocks.
Thats BS, and today proven BS without a reasonable doubt.
Lets embolden all miners large and small to solo mine and produce their own blocks!

Craig Wright's contempt of court application hearing, day 2 – The Sentencing. 🧵
Today is a short affair where Mellor J will hand down Craig Wright's sentencing for contempt of court. It looks like we can expect an 18-24 month custodial sentence. Wright is of course still somewhere in Asia and may realistically never serve his sentence, so today kicks off his "Satoshi-on-the-lam" phase. He will have been invited to attend his sentencing on video link, so it'll be interesting to see if he accepts that. We all want to see his face as his sentence is handed down.
Today is one of those rare times when you can go to a place to witness bitcoin history unfold. If you (unlike Wright) can take a few hours off work, come to the Rolls Building in London and go to Court 17 on the second floor, in good time before 2pm. I certainly will.
Court is in session in 4 hours.

🚨 Craig Wright is toast.🍞
Today in London’s Royal Courts of Justice, CSW failed to show up, claiming he couldn’t afford travel.
Bird & Bird summarized his arguments as 'legal nonsense on multiple levels.'
Sentencing tomorrow. 🧑⚖️

Contempt of court application hearing against Craig Wright, day 1. 🧵
Good morning from occasionally sunny London! Today marks the first of a two-day hearing to determine whether Craig Wright is in contempt of court.
I'll be heading to the Royal Courts of Justice, where the main entrance opens at 9am. I expect to meet a ton of friends there, and several of us plan to live-post. Check @BitMEXResearch, @tuftythecat, @Arthur_van_Pelt, @twentynothing00, @WhatTheFinance9. Court 72 may be quite small, but hopefully there is room for all of us.
I think there's a real possibility that Wright doesn't show, and this whole thing will be a short affair. We'll see.
Note that Court 72 has its own YouTube channel. Although I wouldn't expect this hearing to be streamed, it's worth checking: youtube.com/@RoyalCourtsofJu…
Court is in session at 10:30am, in 2.5 hours from this message. 🕥

A lot is being said by Craig Wright supporters about Judge Mellor's use of the term "technobabble".
I have been in technology for over 30 years. I have done every job in computers - hardware, DBA, security and mostly software engineering.
I have a lot of certifications. This holiday weekend I'm wrapping up studying to renew my AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification.
To that end, I was taking a practice test and it hit me - there is no better example to explain how Craig Wright talks about technology than to show the wrong answers on a certification test.
To those that don't know, wrong answers sound plausible. To those that know, wrong answers make no sense.
Years ago, I started looking into Craig Wright with the intent to prove that he was Satoshi Nakamoto. Very quickly, I realized that he speaks in technobabble. Nothing he says makes sense to me. Which is strange because Craig and I grew up about the same time period and I have lived and breathed computers since I was 10. I have interviewed many hundreds of Computer Science graduates and I can tell quickly when someone knows what they're doing.
Everything Craig Wright says sounds like nonsense to me. It's all technobabble, like wrong answers on a certification test.
Today's practice question that led to this connection for me:

Calvin Ayre @CalvinAyre quietly changed the history on his website, Ayre.Group, removing any mention of Craig Wright as Satoshi. Ayre, who has long supported and funded Wright, covering all his legal bills to falsely portray him as the Bitcoin creator, now appears to distance himself. As I stated in my tweet on May 20, I was right! Calvin no longer wants to be associated with Craig Wright.

"I will make certain declarations which I am satisfied are useful and are necessary to do justice between the parties. First, that Dr Wright is not the author of the Bitcoin White Paper. Second, Dr Wright is not the person who adopted or operated under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto in the period 2008 to 2011. Third, Dr Wright is not the person who created the Bitcoin System. And, fourth, he is not the author of the initial versions of the Bitcoin software. Any further relief will be dealt with in my written judgment. I will extend time for filing any appellant's notice until 21 days after the form of order hearing, which will be appointed following the hand down of my written judgment and I ask the parties to seek to agree an order giving effect to what I have just stated."
