To be clear: it is unambiguously good for Americans to be protesting ICE. Republicans keep characterizing it as bad. But protesting against tyranny and abuses of power is a great American tradition. It is similar to what is happening - and being celebrated - this week in Iran.

Obama tonight on his Cheesecake Factory line: "They mobilized a whole of government response to that joke. Not to inflation, but to that joke. The White House even called the Secretary of the Treasury. This is the man who is in charge of the economy. The person who's supposed to be figuring out how to make your life more affordable. The guy who's supposed to be figuring out how to lower inflation. And reduce interest rates. They told him he should hold a press conference in front of the Cheesecake Factory."

So we are at R +0.4 electorate based on primary vote history. We were at R +8.9 at the equivalent day in 2024. And R +11.5 on the equivalent day in 2022. It seems like Dem turnout is supercharged, R turnout is good, but not great, and low propensity (non primary) turnout is very high. This election will come down to how those lower propensity voters decide to vote this cycle. The polling would suggest that Talarico should do well with these voters (more non-white and younger).

Hey @Google, stop embarrassing yourselves. Claude: “The underlying fact isn't in dispute: Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election.” ChatGPT: “Joe Biden won the 2020 U.S. presidential election, defeating incumbent President Donald Trump.” Perplexity: “Joe Biden won the 2020 U.S. presidential election, beating incumbent Donald Trump 306 to 232 in the Electoral College.”

URGENT! National Guard units are reportedly being mobilized across ALL 50 STATES ahead of next week’s midterm elections. Military sources say Guard personnel are being deployed to assist with federal cybersecurity efforts and potentially monitor ballot drop boxes. This raises serious questions about the military’s role in our elections. Please report any abnormalities these next 6 days.

Judge David Carter: "Never before in American history has the federal government, on the eve of an election, sought to coerce a state and local government to abandon their own Constitutional elections procedures and bend to the will of the Executive Branch. In bringing this lawsuit, the Executive would have this Court believe that it reigns as a sole sovereign. But California and its people are sovereign, too."

Google has specifically prevented its AI tool from telling users who won the 2020 presidential election, even though it happily tells us that Trump won in 2016 and 2024. This sort of political intervention into LLM responses is deeply problematic. (h/t to Charles Mann)

Honestly scary how some people, including those in the media, don't seem to care anymore that the President of the United States is a rapist.

I was in the room multiple times when President Biden met with and prayed with Catholic bishops. They didn’t run cameras, because he and those present didn’t want to politicize prayer and encounter for electoral gain. When Biden lost his second child in May 2015, he prayed nearly all night in front of the Blessed Sacrament. It’s the same thing he did in 1972 when he lost his daughter and late wife to a drunk driver. He went to Mass every single Sunday as president, oftentimes next to the parish cemetery of his children, and relied on his faith to guide him through hell and high water. You might not like his politics, but I encourage you to act with Christian charity towards the sincerity of his faith and take the view of the late Pope Francis, who called him a “good Catholic” in 2021.
If a Democratic president asked bishops to pray over him, they should say yes. This unfortunately must remain a hypothetical since our (allegedly) Catholic former president never met with the bishops at all!

It’s truly unbelievable that the United States president is accused yet again of rape and it literally is a non-story that gets virtually no coverage. That’s why there must be a blue tsunami on Tuesday…

Hey @Meta — Would love to hear exactly how this accident — that interferes with a Florida Democrat running for Senate — happened one week out from Election Day when the race is tightening. Why don’t you screw with any Republican candidates? Oh, right… We saw Mark slithering up Trump’s ass, so it all makes sense. Fucking cheaters.
Hey @Meta 👋 We are currently hosting a get-out-the-vote rally in Osceola County, home to a large Puerto Rican community, and our #LatinosConAngie @Instagram page was suddenly taken down while we were actively posting content from the event. This page is a critical communication tool for reaching Latino voters and mobilizing our community. With just seven days until Election Day, every minute matters. We are calling on Meta to immediately restore the page and provide an explanation for its removal. Voters deserve access to critical election information, especially in these final days. @andymstone

“A Trump representative allegedly invited Keul upstairs to meet with him. According to the report, Keul believed the meeting could help advance her career and education. Once inside a suite, Trump allegedly grabbed her from behind and raped her, tearing her dress and causing bleeding and bruising on multiple parts of her body. Keul described the alleged assault as ‘brutal.’”

An epoch failure of political courage, an abdication of leadership, and a shirking of constitutional duty that will and should define Mitch McConnell's legacy. He spoke of the "long game" but sometimes the test that matters is today, and in the long run, there's no do over. – at Brookmont, MD
Former Rep. @Liz_Cheney (R-WY) says she believes President Trump would have been convicted if Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) decided to convict: "I think if he had voted to convict, we would have had enough Republicans who would have followed him that he would've been convicted."
