ALT Hey Everyone We will start a study group on applied cryptography next Monday, October 17th, lead by @chuck_bartowski What can you expect to learn? Ultimately, an overall understanding of cryptography and how to build things securely. Importantly, we'll try to understand how cryptographic security is argued through proofs. We'll mainly use the book by Boneh and Shoup (https://toc.cryptobook.us/), though we may give references to other resources for people wanting to follow along with a lighter book. Keep an eye on #applied-crypto-study-group for information on the schedule. We also use the channel to discuss the book content and help each other out. As always, keep in mind our server's rules so that we can make this learning experience as good as can be! See you on Monday!

ALT Hi everyone, We hope to start a relatively informal reading group on the basics of algebraic number theory in this channel. The rough plan is to work through J.S. Milne’s notes on Field Theory and Algebraic Number Theory at the pace of about one chapter a week. I imagine this group working roughly as follows. At the beginning of each week (on Monday) I’ll post a reminder in this channel about what the reading for the week is. To read the Schedule, please join our Discord (Alt text doesn't have enough room!)
