Is Jayden Daniels the problem for the 1-4-1 #Commanders? Beltway Football's JP Finlay and Mitch Tischler aren't buying it.
JP opened by saying anyone who thinks Jayden has been the problem is "insane," and pushed back on the screen-grab takes about his fourth-down throws in San Francisco. Then Mitch took it further. Coming off a Monday night where JD5 threw for 300 yards and two touchdowns with no turnovers against a good Niners defense, he called the national narrative around him wild. He pointed out the talent around Jayden is a step below what the other QBs in his draft class have, and the O-line has only gotten worse as the season has gone on. "Teams are figuring out, hey, we just blitz these guys and they are SOL."
My two cents: I'm with them. JD5 has been sacked nine times in two games since coming back, and he still hasn't thrown a pick this season. The quarterback isn't what's sinking this team.
That said, not all of it is on the help. Even under pressure, you can't throw it away on fourth down, and in Year 3, the situational stuff has to get cleaned up no matter who's blocking. Jayden knows that, and I am confident that he will clean it up.
Is the heat on JD5 fair, or is he the one guy keeping this offense afloat?

"That's not normal." DQ on Sonny Styles in coverage.
#Commanders HC Dan Quinn and @LoganPaulsenNFL went to the 49ers tape for three Sonny plays: a square tackle in space, a third-down breakup on Mike Evans that had DQ comparing his range to Fred Warner's, and Sonny dropping into coverage on Brandin Cooks.
Six games in, the No. 7 pick has an interception, four passes defended, a sack and a forced fumble.
The rest of the NFL has a problem. ☀️

Co-signing this. Here's the paperwork 🧾
Only 3 NBA wings rank top 13 in blocks, steals AND deflections per 36 so far:
🔹 Cooper Flagg
🔹 Zaccharie Risacher
🔹 Bilal Coulibaly
Two No. 1 picks and our guy.

Bye week well spent. Sonny Styles headed back to Ohio State to visit his All-American tree in Buckeye Grove, and he brought the pup 🐶🌳
Safety turned linebacker turned captain turned top-10 pick. Not a bad resume for a guy who got to campus at 17.

How far can #Commanders rookie Drew Stevens kick it?
His NFL long is already 57, one yard shy of the 58-yarder he hit at Iowa to tie the school record. Add a 55 in his debut and a 51 on Monday Night Football, and that’s three makes from 50+ six games into his career.

7 years ago today, the World Series came back to DC for the first time since 1933.
Chad Cordero to Brian Schneider for the first pitch, two of the 2005 originals. A sea of red at Nationals Park. Even Buzz Aldrin showed up.
86 years of waiting, and DC finally got its October night. ⚾️

"They like to downplay and dismiss special teams."
Brian Mitchell got real with London Fletcher about the Hall of Fame wait, and you can hear how much it's eaten at him.
He's second all-time in all-purpose yards, behind only Jerry Rice, and nobody in NFL history has more kickoff or punt return yards. Devin Hester got in two years ago. The door is open for returners.
@ProFootballHOF, it's time.

Same Raptors. Same week.
Wed, Oct. 21: Bulls lose by 43
Fri, Oct. 23: Wizards lose by 10
Counting that as a good sign lol. Better in all six categories, and we get Chicago tonight, both on a back-to-back 🫡

Former Redskin WR Santana Moss on what Stefon Diggs brings:
"He going to bring smoke."
This was taped before Terry went down, and now Diggs isn't the 1B anymore, he is the guy. Santana's right that a room needs some fire, and that's Diggs. Now it's his room.

Wednesday's Wizards and Friday's Wizards were not the same team.
13 turnovers became 23. 70 paint points became 32. AD went from 34 to 9.
Trae Young and Tre Johnson kept us in it, but Toronto made us play their game. Clean it up in Chicago tonight and the final should look a lot better.

Ryan Leonard through 9 games:
4 G | 4 A | 8 PTS | 22 SOG | 16 HITS
He closed his rookie year with a team-high 10 goals and 15 points over the final 20 games, and he's picked up right where he left off. He leads the Caps in points, and two of his four goals have come on the power play, including a coast-to-coast dash through the Devils that Carbery said we'd be seeing all year long. His assist against Seattle made him the fastest Capital to 50 NHL points since Backstrom, getting there in 89 games.
The Caps gave him 8 years and $84M last month. So far, that deal is aging well.

Asked by @BC__TV for his favorite Washington memory, @LoganThomasSr_6 went straight to Philly and the locker room after.
"There is absolutely nothing like it."
Week 17, 2020. His 13-yard TD with 26 seconds left in the first half put Washington ahead for good, and the 20-14 win clinched the NFC East.
"Everything that you did for 17, 18 weeks plus training camp, OTAs, has paid off."
