This is one of a number of interesting little markers set into the stonework of the Forth and Clyde Canal near The Whisky Bond in the north of Glasgow. They're a reminder of a project called Displacement carried out there in July 2015.

On Wednesday the Forest City project releases our 295 pg report, ‘We Can Build a City’. It is the work of over 40 people. A labour of passion and dedication to solving the UK housing crisis, the lack of growth and infrastructure, and the impoverishment of nature. All these people put their skills to this task for free. They are true radicals in a time with such little hope for the future.
There’s a ‘kernel’ of concept that I agree with in this statement @ArkaSerezh … however ..is that where our ambition ends? We cannot foresee what will be without acknowledging that there is something out there worth pursuing!
Pastiche is this word people use to dismiss anything that has a flavor of what has been made previously in the built world. But the problem with modern architecture is exactly lack of pastiche and continuous desire to do something new for the sake of new. Without any philosophical grounding of why. There’s no structure, no symmetry no integrity. As much as I’m pro individualism, when it comes to architecture, there needs to be a guiding principle with aesthetics taking a primary role. I’d take pastiche traditional architecture every time over modern glass boxes of slightly different shapes made by architects for the sole purpose of impressing other architects.
