The Poppy Campaign honours those who have served Canada, in war & peace.
I wear a poppy for my uncle Fl. Lt Clifford Stovel, 25 years old when he was shot down in WWII, & my aunt Major Lillian Barraud who served in the Royal Canadian Air Force over 3 decades. #lestweforget

AURORA ALERT 🚨 NOAA SWPC has a G2 (moderate) geomagnetic storm watch for TONIGHT, Oct 8, in North America. A glancing-blow CME is forecasted for this evening, northern U.S. and southern Canada in play. My new map below: the red dashed line is not an absolute boundary 👇
Fog persisted lastnight into nearly 10am when it finally burned off. Thanks to noise cancellation and dehazing protocols it is difficult to replicate what the eyes were seeing. Visibility was bad. #Regina #Saskatchewan #ShareYourWeather – at Regina, Saskatchewan

ON THIS DATE IN 1859: The Carrington Event was the most intense geomagnetic storm in recorded history, peaking on 1–2 September 1859 during solar cycle 10. It created strong auroral displays that were reported globally and caused sparking and even fires in telegraph stations.
Because society today relies heavily on interconnected electrical grids, satellites, GPS, and internet infrastructure, a modern repetition of the Carrington Event would be catastrophic.

On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to walk on the Moon.
