(A Pedant writes…) of course, Henry V wasn’t at Agincourt dressed as an English king, but as the French king! Fleurs-de-Lys on his shirt, not Three Lions.
On this date in 1415 the battle of Agincourt took place. A fascinating bit of history that also gave us Shakespeare's masterpiece 'Henry V' and several glorious films. Here are clips from 3 films showing the famous, delicious, rousing speech:

It’s true. X punishes me for my posts. The more I write, the worse my reach gets.
Elon Musk has done to x what he did to starlink. That’s why pro Ukraine posts get almost no coverage

🔥🇺🇸 He may not have been the best American President, but damn, I hate to admit it, but Obama might have the quote of the year with this one: “There’s gold everywhere… what’s up with the gold?! He’s got the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened up a Cheesecake Factory!” He’s not wrong about all the gold… It’s becoming excessive. Writer: Jamie

I made a little show as an extra for BBC Radio 4 Extra (pretty much in my own time): it’s being repeated to mark 20 years since the death of Nigel Kneale. This sort of bonus (dare I say it Reithian?) content will not be possible once the station goes: bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0016jc…

I have been listening to One Chord Wonders on @Radio4Extra by @Frankcottrell_b A set of 5 inter-linked plays about a punk gig in Camberley sounds a bit niche, but it’s a triumph! Very cleverly put together, lovely characterisation and a great gag at the end. Well worth the time.

Churchill could have shortened WW2 by years if he had just “done a deal” with Hitler. George Washington could have done a deal to end the American Revolution. Zelenskyy is in good company.

Replying to @Josh_Self_
The UK has an uncodified, not an unwritten constitution. 2 really different things that MPs like @darrenpjones and the Cabinet Office should know perfectly well. Written down, but not codified so has some more flexibility.

Anyway, after the bad start to this morning's journey - situation normal for GWR - I saw the Flying Scotsman at Oxford. I bet this didn't break down every day!

I hate when people at work ask you what books you are reading for professional development. I am reading books to counteract the effects of being professionally developed. I am reading books that bring me back to being human

‘I've seen Trump claim things you people wouldn't believe. Ceasefires in Gaza. Victory in Iran. An energy ceasefire in Ukraine. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain’
As expected, the Kremlin says it has nothing to say about the energy ceasefire imagined by Trump. “Contacts continue.”

Ukraine’s freedom is not President Trump’s to bargain away. He is wrong to ease sanctions on Russian diesel, wrong to blame President Zelensky for prolonging Putin’s war, and wrong to undermine a nation fighting for its right to exist. Russia is the aggressor. Always has been. Reward Russia, and we should expect to see more aggression, including from other countries. We can also kiss goodbye to any just and lasting peace. This is why Conservatives have stood with Ukraine against Putin. Ukraine’s future belongs to Ukrainians. They alone have the right to choose their president, and we stand with President Zelensky because he fights not for himself, but for the survival of his country and his people.

A god who wants the government to live stream executions but gets furious about the government helping the poor, welcoming the immigrant, feeding the hungry, and protecting our planet is not the god revealed by Jesus Christ but a god invented by cruel and greedy men.
