What kind of misleading headline is this, @VTMNIEUWS? VTM’s headline claims that “7.5 million Palestinians have no vote” in its coverage of Israel’s elections. Who exactly is included in that figure? If it includes 2 million Israeli Arab citizens, the claim is wrong. They have the same voting rights as other Israeli citizens, run for office and serve in the Knesset. If it includes 5 million Palestinians living in the West Bank and Gaza, they generally do not hold Israeli citizenship and therefore do not vote in Israeli national elections. Combining these populations under one sweeping headline misleads viewers. A reminder: the last Palestinian parliamentary elections were in 2006. President Mahmoud Abbas has now postponed the November 2026 elections until September 2027, despite commitments to international partners. His promise to hold elections was among the commitments underpinning France’s recognition of a Palestinian state. Recognition went ahead. The elections did not. A report about democracy should begin by getting the electorate right.

President @Isaac_Herzog received the diplomatic credentials of the new Ambassador of the Netherlands to Israel, Stella Ronner-Grubačić. President Herzog expressed his deep personal commitment to the historic ties between Israel and the Netherlands and the importance of overcoming current areas of disagreement. The President emphasized his strong opposition to sanctions and boycotts against Israel, noting that dialogue – especially between friends – is key to bridging divides and working toward a more peaceful future in our region. President Herzog also reaffirmed the vital importance of combating all forms of antisemitism and of protecting the safety and well-being of the Dutch Jewish community.

At a moving ceremony in Steenwijk yesterday, 30 individuals were posthumously awarded the Righteous Among the Nations distinction by Yad Vashem. During WWII, they risked everything to rescue Jews from the Nazi regime. We honor their incredible courage and unwavering moral compass.

You realise that people can see your past comments, right?
I am saddened and shocked by Alice Edward's article published today in the @Telegraph and the extent to which it misrepresents my work and that of the special procedures system she was part of until July 2026. telegraph.co.uk/gift/be34cb6… Collectively, we have been unequivocal: Any sexual harassment and violence committed against women and girls on and since 7 October 2023, including hostages in captivity, are grave crimes. Survivors deserve to be heard, and perpetrators must be held accountable. I have said so before, and the full record of my engagement is here:   ohchr.org/en/press-releases/… ; ohchr.org/en/press-releases/… & ohchr.org/sites/default/file… Ms. Edwards claims that I have never condemned the reports of violence, including sexual violence against women and girls on the 7th of October, and that I have hidden behind Israel’s refusal to grant me entry. Both these claims are incorrect. My statement outlining my engagement on and since the 7th October 2023 makes it clear that I have made several démarches to gain access to primary information, survivors,  witnesses, and first responders. As I told the General Assembly on 8 October 2026, the first time a former hostage approached me was in June 2026 at the Human Rights Council. I have since met her and am handling her case under the established procedure open to every victim; where each step is subject to her full and informed consent. Ms. Edwards also leaves out the fact that when she invited me to join her allegation letter relating to the events of 7th of October 2023, I reviewed it in good faith and made written suggestions on 3rd December 2023. In my feedback, I also asked to see the primary information and testimonies Ms. Edwards had received - a normal request between mandate holders. She declined without explanation, which was the first and only time  I have been denied such a request during my mandate. Contrary to me, she did not invite me to any further engagement on Palestine and Israel after that, nor share any information on any related action she may have taken. Statements such as these only serve the wider efforts to discredit rapporteurs, including rapporteurs that criticize Israel for its serious human rights violations. They serve to dismiss every UN finding of Israeli violations of human rights and international law as being biased against the State of Israel. Ms. Edwards should understand this better than most. Since 2024, she herself was publicly accused of bias against Palestinian victims, and even endured calls for her dismissal. Ms. Edwards knows all too well how stressful it is to have your impartiality questioned. Every one of us is doing our best for victims, whoever they are, and wherever they live. The current President of the Human Rights Council was emphatically clear that mandate holders must be able "to carry out their responsibilities free from personal attacks, intimidation or undue pressure." That included Ms. Edwards when she was a rapporteur but is also expected of her today in her current engagement with rapporteurs (since her resignation as a rapporteur).

Violence and intimidation will not be tolerated. Four suspects connected to the October 16 incident involving Washington Post photojournalist Heidi Levine and two suspects linked to the October 17 incident involving foreign diplomats have had their detention extended until October 21. Additional suspects remain in detention, while others have been released under restrictive conditions. All investigations are ongoing.

I strongly condemn the severe acts of violence by Israeli rioters in the area of Taybeh. A police investigation has been opened, and forensic investigators from the Judea and Samaria District are already at the scene collecting evidence. The Foreign Ministry is in contact with the ambassadors of the countries concerned in order to assist the law enforcement authorities, who are working to identify the attackers and bring them to justice. Without detracting from the severity of the incident, it is unfortunate that the visit was not coordinated with the IDF in advance. Such coordination could have helped safeguard the visitors’ security.

The Prime Minister's Office: ALLEGED ATTACK ON EUROPEAN DIPLOMATS: SERIOUS ACCUSATIONS REQUIRE SERIOUS EVIDENCE. We urge caution before drawing conclusions from today's reports that European diplomats were attacked by masked Israelis in Judea and Samaria. Any violence against diplomats is unacceptable. The more serious the accusation, the greater the demand for compelling evidence. Here is what we know: - The diplomatic delegation entered a sensitive area with a history of confrontations without prior coordination with the IDF, as officially confirmed by the military. Such coordination is essential to protecting visiting diplomats and preventing violence. - The visit included Bernard Baudoux, a French Communist Party mayor who previously raised the Palestinian flag over his municipal building, prompting French authorities to order its removal. - Published footage shows masked individuals confronting a diplomatic vehicle. Separate images show a smashed window and a person lying on the ground. These images alone do not establish the complete sequence of events or individual responsibility. Those circumstances remain under investigation. - Israeli police and forensic investigators have launched an investigation to establish the facts and identify those responsible. These reports come amid concerns about a coordinated campaign to smear Israel and the Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria during the annual olive harvest, relying on sensational headlines before the full facts emerge. We may see further allegations in the coming days. By the time the evidence is fully examined, the reputational damage from premature conclusions may already be done. We call on the public and responsible journalists to demand verifiable evidence, reject hearsay, and refuse to turn unproven allegations into a collective indictment of the Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria.

In the midst of a difficult week in the Netherlands, I had the joy of attending a truly moving performance by the Shalva Band in Aalsmeer. These remarkable musicians remind us that when people stand together and believe in one another, no challenge is too great. Every song carried so much warmth, courage, and pure joy. I looked around the room and saw it on every face: we were all deeply touched and inspired. Thank you, Shalva, for sharing your beautiful gift with us. ❤️

Dear Mayor @Amcgschouten, is this your definition of “safety”?
Bravo to the Mayor of Alkmaar. A handful of Israeli fans were barred from the Hapoel Be'er Sheva match today under the guise of "security risks," yet a mob waving signs (in Hebrew) reading "Go Hamas" was allowed right in. Hamas is a designated terrorist organization in the Netherlands - the same group responsible for the October 7 atrocities against civilians, the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust. Something is deeply broken in the Netherlands.
