FYI I'm kinda reviving presence here for sake of Twitter hold-outs. Instagram is my main these days. 12,575 followers!! That's more than current & past city councilmembers (not counting mayors). I recommend following me there. I'm also active on Threads. instagram.com/dallasurbanist…

What’s it like to live in Dallas without a car? @umaxbhat and I spoke with people choosing to live in a notoriously car-centric city without one. Read how they do it at @dallasnews 🚗 @DallasUrbanists

DART needs improvement, not cuts. Yet city leaders want 25% less funding. Frustrated by late buses? Expect more delays. Wish for cleaner rides? They'll get dirtier. Concerned about safety? Fewer officers Sign petition to say NO to cuts & reject madness chng.it/h9jB67KrZp

We raised 615+ signatures on our petition to pedestrianize N. Akard Street by closing car access to the segment between Commerce & Elm. change.org/pedestrianize_aka… Here's a thread showing exactly what would change... 🧵 – at Main Street District, Dallas

Step 2: Don't put barriers at Main Street. Leave it open for delivery, service, & emergency vehicles. Simply blocking the ends is enough to make 99% of traffic disappear from Akard. If driver accidentally turns onto Akard from Main, they simply back out like from a driveway. – at Main Street District, Dallas

Step 3: That's it!! Of course, a lot more can be done after - resurfacing street to indicate pedestrian area, narrow roadbed, widen sidewalk, streets trees, bicycle parking, etc... We don't need much more start. Let's start small with the basics & make street safer immediately. – at Main Street District, Dallas

Sign the petition to Pedestrianize Akard Street in Downtown Dallas (Elm-Main-Commerce)!! chng.it/dHJfTf46pL via @Change
Woman killed by "speeding car going north on Akard from Commerce... crashing into Chop House Burger... driver was arrested." N Akard needs to be closed to car thru traffic between DART Station & Commerce Street. There's nothing here cars can't access a half block over.
