Have you ever spotted a“green flash” at sunset? 💚It’s not a myth, it’s science!
Green flashes occur because the Earth's atmosphere can cause the light from the Sun to separate into different colors 🌈 like in this image from @KittPeakNatObs.

📣Undergrad student Isabella Olin is presenting her #aas245 iPoster 465.04 soon (1-2pm) on SDSS/BOSS Large Scale Structure and the "Cosmic Slime" Value-Added Catalog, where she investigates the impact of environment on galaxy quenching 🧵 1/2
The @ESAGaia satellite is retiring but the mission will live on through its phenomenal data. At Data Lab, we are currently hosting Gaia DR3 & looking forward to the next DR to help sharing the data with the astronomy community & watch discoveries unfold✨

Wondering why Gaia ends its science observation campaign today? The spacecraft itself was in great shape thanks to @esaoperations, but the cold gas used to spin was running out. The final grams of cold gas are now used to perform a few technology tests: cosmos.esa.int/web/gaia/end-…
