Very saddened by the death of King Harald V of Norway. 🇳🇴
A special memory from 25 November 1990, when as the local Southwark ward councillor I met him, then Crown Prince Regent, at the Norwegian Church in Rotherhithe, alongside our MP Simon Hughes. We shared tea and refreshments inside the church afterwards.
A memory I will always treasure. RIP.
Nineteen years ago this May, we won our seats from Labour in Epsom & Ewell. Alongside Elaine Britten and Dave Morgan, we formed a fantastic team, backed by a strong and determined opposition group led by Jonathan Lees.
Looking back, those years shaped so much of my journey in public service. We shared a commitment to standing up for our communities, challenging where necessary, and always striving to make a difference.
Time certainly flies! I’m not getting any younger, and today I have the privilege of serving as Cabinet Executive Member for Adult Social Care and Health on the new East Surrey Council.
It’s been quite a journey—from opposition councillor to Cabinet Executive Member. It reminds me that public service is never about titles; it’s about continuing to serve, learn, and make a positive difference.
So… what’s next? Whatever it is, I hope it will continue to be about creating a fairer, more inclusive future for everyone.

Took part in a lively Transport Committee meeting, challenging the Deputy Mayor and TfL Commissioner over the lack of step-free access at stations near Oxford Street, automated taxis, and TfL business leases. Attended an event celebrating our new Lib Dem councillor joining us from the Labour Party in Ealing. Asked the Mayor what he was doing to ensure London remains a family-friendly city, securing commitments that the GLA will double-check its progress.
