"Just because you’ve got a flag in your van and you scream at people in the street doesn’t make you a patriot." Chancellor Rachel Reeves tells Channel 4 News' Economics Editor Helia Ebrahimi that being a patriot is about "loving this country and treating other people with respect", after being heckled during a previous interview.

Anyone else feel that BBC Look North should not be promoting gambling? Tonight had a long puff piece about "postcode lottery". Showed ppl winning but nothing about the odds against it or the lives wrecked by gambling. The BBC needs to act responsibly.

Gorton and Denton -Lab trying to talk up their prospects but it's Green or Reform according to the betting odds. Lab odds are actually worsening whereas Green are pulling ahead. Follow the money.

By refusing to even consider a customs union, Keir Starmer himself is the biggest block to closer ties with Europe. Unless he changes that stance, this is all just meaningless blather

Can everyone stop talking about “mandates”, please. The United Kingdom elects an MP for each of its 650 constituencies. Whoever can command a majority of them is the prime minister. When you stop commanding that majority, no imagined “mandate” means anything in real terms.

Very strange budget setting at east riding council today. Tories moved a budget with 5% C Tax rise, backed by their Condependents. Lib Dems & Labour waffled & meakly backed the Tory budget. Only a handful including "People before Party" Cllrs voted against the Tory budget.

Looks like Eryc are continuing to treat Cllt Tom Astell as a non-Lib Dem Cllr during last Friday. He reports it is "an error". Is it a Council admin error or an Astell error?

Was done in error. I like how you didn’t contact me for comment before sharing Nolan’s inaccuracies.

East Riding Lib Dem Cllr Astell defects to non-party political Cllr Group. Nobody asks them if they want him. Reminds me of Groucho Marx; " I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member" Grouphttps://xitter.cf/i/status/2014313966864859412

More churn at County Hall. I’m told Tom Astell has left the Lib Dem group and has now joined the ever-growing list of unaffiliated members.

Bbc news at 10 yet again leading on talking about the BBC. Nothing else remotely as important is going on in the world as BBC on BBC. The decline and fall of Rome would have taken 2nd place in the news to the BBC.

Why is the BBC constantly reporting on the BBC as its main news story? Is there nothing else going on in the world that is remotely more important than the BBC navel-gazing?

Say what you like about Prince Andrew, but who else would be generous enough to give £12million to someone they haven't met for something they haven't done?

Baroness Jones, "My Lords, I know that many on the Labour benches don't want to hear this" "But this Labour government is more authoritarian than the last Conservative government" *laughter in the chamber* "Not only has the Labour government accepted all the draconian laws of the Conservative government, it actually continues to add to them" "Now how many times in the previous 14 years the Labour benches spoke up against laws clamping down on protests, but now they're supporting them, and even defending and adding to them"

This is seismic for Labour and it should deeply trouble them. This would have been unthinkable. If they’ve lost the confidence of the people here it’s bad news everywhere.

"Brexit's severe impact" says, suddenly !, Reeves She's right but, sorry, she and Starmer simply aren't credible. They've totally gagged their party from so much as mentioning the word for years (see Wes Streeting) and now she miraculously pulls the Brexit rabbit out of a hat ?
