Scotland was promised renewal. It got something else entirely. My new book Scotland Undone is out now — a forensic account of SNP fiscal recklessness, institutional capture, and performative politics that failed schools, hospitals, and the people who needed them most. 👇 amazon.co.uk/dp/1036960315 #ScotlandUndone #Scotland #SNP

Texas voter: My hometown is Rockport, Texas. When I wear my Talarico shirt there, I get people stopping me at the stores and telling me they've been Republicans all their life, and they're voting Talarico. They're voting Hinojosa. They're voting Bobby Pulido, because they're tired of the corruption, the lies right now.

Pains me to say it, but there needs to be an independent inquiry into anti-semitism at the BBC. Lucie Kon's allegations - some of which are set out in this @TimesRadio interview - are so serious they can't be brushed aside. Over to you @lisanandy. youtube.com/watch?v=LMH6HdEV…

Congratulations Israel for holding free election. Well done for being a free democracy guaranteeing gay rights uniquely in the levant & Maghreb. Nowhere else outside the homeland of the Jewish peoples do these facts exist. If Israel didn't exist, we'd need to create it.

Name a single Jewish voter who can vote in Morocco, Iraq, Iran, Gaza (when they have elections)? Oh, no? Because they were all systematically purged and driven from their homelands since the 1950s? Double standard, meet ideological possession. These folk are why 2 states fail. Blind to nuance.
Israeli "democracy": - 500,000 West Bank settlers can vote, but not the 3M Palestinians under occupation - 230,000 Israelis in occupied East Jerusalem can vote, but not the 350,000 Palestinians under their rule - The fewer than 2M Palestinians left in occupied Gaza cannot vote

Seven days out, the GOP isn't losing to the Democrats. It's losing to its own record. Tariffs built on a flawed formula. A war of choice in Iran. Rising fuel and food costs. Gold bars and ballrooms. Unified control means no one else to blame.

1/ Seven days out, the 2026 midterms look less like a blue wave than a Republican bloodbath. The Democratic brand is still weak. It won't matter. A thread on why 🧵

I have spoken out against anti-Muslim hate in the Michigan Senate race. I will speak out just as loudly when the target is Jewish people. Let me state a little-known fact: ISRAEL GETS LESS THAN 0.1 PERCENT OF THE FEDERAL BUDGET. That’s less than one tenth of a percent! But there is an ad running that tells voters they can’t afford groceries because the United States gives so much money to Israel. In reality, the United States spends money in and on countries all around the world – but this ad singles out the Jewish state. The ad is as dangerous as it is dishonest. You can disagree with how the United States spends money abroad. But telling hungry families that the Jewish state is the reason they are suffering is wrong and shameful. Blaming Jews for people’s problems is an old story. Anybody who has read the last century of history knows where it leads. It is a dark pathway. This ad is anti-Jewish hate and should come down immediately. Abdul El-Sayed should denounce it today.

Today, two million Arabs had the right to vote in a free and fair election in the Middle East. In a region where that freedom is nonexistent, only one country guarantees it: Israel.

The vile comments on this post offer a snapshot of what Jewish people face daily. I’m not Jewish, but I’ve had a torrent of abuse since calling out antisemitism in schools. It’s not acceptable and these people are gross.
It is a stain on us as a society that Jewish children are frightened to go to school in Britain in 2026. I welcome Sir David Bell's review & thank those brave enough to share their experiences. Warm words will not be enough, the recommendations must be properly enforced.

Hopefully Netanyahu will finally lose.
Netanyahu and Eisenkot agree on Israel’s enemies. But they represent two radically different Israels. Netanyahu’s: increasingly religious, dominated by the far right, subsidizing those who neither work nor serve. Eisenkot’s: more inclusive, demanding shared obligations and the rule of law. This election is about the very character of Israel. My @washingtonpost piece: washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

5/ Corruption is now voters' top issue (36%, CNBC). Gold bars, a Qatari jet, a gilded Oval Office and a ballroom are what make the other grievances easy to understand.

I worked the Brazilian elections for France 24. For what it's worth (and armed with a degree in History and Politics!!), here's my take on what happened.

SNP’s latest wheeze: taxpayers to pay £27m for jobs that don’t exist in public sector. No compulsory redundancy policy means 800 folk will keep collecting pay checks despite their job role ending. thetimes.com/article/c654f4a…
