VERIZON RULES OUT MVNO DEAL WITH SPACEX During their earnings call, the following was noted "I will say, and I'll repeat it again, that there are no back doors to any of our MVNO agreements, and I see absolutely no benefit whatsoever to extending an MVNO deal to any satellite provider. I don't buy into the idea of this prisoner's dilemma. That's ridiculous. There is no benefit to Verizon extending an MVNO deal. Um, and, and we look forward to being able to, for six years to finally punch back. And we'll punch back hard when that happens." $ASTS $SPCX $VZ $TMUS $T

$ASTS: 🧩SpaceX spent $22B on Echostar's global S-Band spectrum. Based on SpaceX's stock price performance, that transaction is now valued at $48B. Today AST SpaceMobile received an allocation of 15+15MHz of S-Band spectrum from Brazil's regulator Anatel in exchange for a commitment to invest in and deploy its direct-to-device satellite broadband service across the country. AST is expected to pick up more S- and L-Band spectrum licenses globally as regulators look to foster sovereign solutions deployed through local MNO partners. Stay Focused™️

$ASTS: The S band spectrum allocation comes from the same set of frequencies that fudsters said would not be possible for @AST_SpaceMobile to win because of AST’s S band priority rights being lower than Starlink’s rights acquired from EchoStar. It turns out that as Sp🅰️ceMob expected and as is the reality of the world, spectrum is regulated on a country by country basis. And of course spectrum makes its way to the most efficient methods of delivery. I fully expect a similar situation in Europe when MSS S band goes for reallocation in May 2027. There will be spectrum awarded to AST/Satellite Connect Europe. 🤝

$asts How to get up to 50 MHz of spectrum without spending billions$: Partner with MNOs. Keep data sovereign. Don't interfere with their Terrestrial Network. AST is the D2C satellite partner of choice for MNOs globally!

$ASTS - TIM Brazil 3 Year STA is now an ACT. Both low and mid band frequencies are approved. The STA length if 2.5 years, so I expect it explains why there is mid-band even though AST currently supports low band.
$ASTS A few things to add: 1. IEZ, Brisanet and Unifique all were approved of their STAs and it was made Acts by Brazil. 2. The STA will consists of 10 MHz channels of 713 MHz and 768 MHz. 3. TIM Brazil STA is approved, but the Act hasn't came yet. xitter.cf/spacanpanman/status/21…

Brazil literally took away spectrum from SpaceX AND Omnispace to give it to AST. Love to see it.

$ASTS: Literally the entire world is looking to diversify away from Starlink and all of the major mobile network operators around the world are already working with @AST_SpaceMobile. Somehow, today the company is only worth 15B. 🤦‍♂️

$ASTS getting going with Rakuten testing in Japan It’s a license to transmit for testing. The station type, 実験試験局 (“experimental test station”), is the category Japan uses for R&D and over-the-air trials. It lets Rakuten put handsets on the air with BlueBirds anywhere in Japan, 24/7, on its full 700 MHz uplink, through August 2031.

Portugal’s telecom regulator ANACOM issued a proposed decision on Oct. 20 rejecting EchoStar’s request to lease its 2 GHz MSS spectrum to SpaceX. Strategically important for $ASTS as this could represent a template for Country specific SpaceX denial for some EU members. First, EchoStar’s current rights expire in May 2027. So SpaceX’s proposed 3-year lease depends on those rights being extended or renewed. This is likely to happen if you’ve been following the 2GHz MSS proposals. Second, even an extension may not be enough. ANACOM says Portugal’s authorization is tied to EchoStar’s GEO satellite at 10°E, and replacing that with Starlink’s LEO constellation changes a licensed condition. That means SpaceX may need more than access to EchoStar’s spectrum. In at least some EU countries, it may need the underlying authorization rewritten to permit NGSO/LEO operation. 😉 Importantly, this is not final yet. EchoStar and SpaceX get 10 business days to respond, and ANACOM is also running a 10-business-day public consultation. After that, ANACOM will issue its final decision. Under the statutory timetable cited in the document, ANACOM has until Nov. 18, 2026 to act; silence after that period counts as non-opposition. This makes the EU 2 GHz transition look less like a “SpaceX gets EchoStar’s spectrum” story and more like a licensing and regulatory problem that may have to be solved country by country. Or, at least, until the final 2GHz allocation regulatory framework is decided and allocated which is years away (hence the 3y extension). anacom.pt/streaming/SPD20Out…

$ASTS $AMZN: @blueorigin’s second launch pad (for NG 9x4) is also making good progress. 🔥
The team also made progress at LC-36B yesterday. Roughly 450 truckloads of concrete, lined up bumper-to-bumper and stretching nearly 3 miles up the coast, supported a 4,500-cubic-yard pour for the pile caps. Three more placements to go for a total of 15,000 cubic yards. This is the foundation for our New Glenn 9x4 pad.

$ASTS Let's talk about the Grain 800MHz testing that ASTS is coordinating. They just renewed the STA weeks after SPCX announced their DA with Grain, which is... weird. Easy to assume they're just running commercial testing, but the facts make this far more interesting A thread:
