WATCH: Mourners at Kibaati Village in Kajju Parish, Kacheera Sub County, Rakai District, turned rowdy after Kalungu West MP Gonzaga Ssewungu read condolence messages from Buyamba County MP Gyaviira Ssemwanga and Rakai District Woman MP Juliet Ssuubi Kinyamatama before delivering a message from Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa. The mourners demanded that the two area MPs’ messages be withdrawn, accusing the leaders of only remembering their constituents during funerals. Ssemwanga and Kinyamatama were absent from the final send off of former Buyamba County MP Amos Mandela, who died on October 25, 2026.

NUP Parliamentary Caucus Chairperson Betty Nambooze has called Parliament’s attention to a social media post by Busiro South MP Kenan Opio, which she says raises concern over the safety of Leader of the Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi. Namboozi cited a post on Opio’s X account in which he wrote: “It’s not over between me and Ssenyonyi.” She reminded Parliament that Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa had earlier guided the formation of a committee to address disagreements among MPs and seek lasting solutions through dialogue and reconciliation.

Advancing Kileleshwa’s agenda requires political goodwill, strategic engagement and the ability to knock on the right doors. I helped take an important matter raised by the Kileleshwa Ward Neighbourhood Association (KIWANA) to the Senate through Senator Edwin Sifuna @edwinsifuna . We now await its progression to a full Senate hearing.

Succession plans are we now a kingdom?
Among the NRM members who attended yesterday’s CEC meeting, only Hajjat Namyalo opposed the succession plan. Among the reasons she gave was that the CDF had withdrawn security from her. Her actions are so disappointing. How can you openly defy the President like that? Whether she likes it or not, General @mkainerugaba is our next president.
