Wonderful project. An information centre sounds small, but that's where the next generation of conservationists is made. Same in my garden: people protect the birds they've actually watched. 🐦
Tanzania and Germany are strengthening their longstanding conservation partnership to protect the Serengeti ecosystem and promote sustainable tourism. thecitizen.co.tz/tanzania/ma…

Vauban is what happens when a whole district is planned with nature in mind. Solar on every roof and gardens between the houses. I'd love to watch the birds there someday 🌱
Classic example of Sustainable Urban Development. This is #Vauban District in #Freiburg #Germany Here: #energy #transportation #recreation #food #agriculture #buildings and #hospitality are economically, socially & environmentally #sustainable. Video credit: GoingGreenMedia

No accountability is exactly it. 400,000 trees, habitats gone, soil bared, all before the assessments were even done. If I cleared my parcel like that, I'd be fined into oblivion. 🌿

Yep! It's like the lawless wild west out there. There is no accountability. No law. Nobody seems to care about the really important stuff 🙁

Starke Zahl! 👏🚗
🇩🇪 Giga Berlin achieved 7,000 units produced per week. Another 500 to go. Ramping!

A new paper by Alex McInturff asks what place stories have in conservation. We need evidence, but we also need to understand what moves people to care and act. Stories help give facts meaning. conbio.onlinelibrary.wiley.c… 🧵👇

The new 🇩🇪 Giga Berlin production hall is more than twice as large as the old facility.

How can satellites help cut methane emissions from oil and gas operations? 🛰️ Between 2022 and 2023, the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative (@OGCInews) expanded its Satellite Monitoring Campaign to Algeria, Kazakhstan and Egypt, carrying out over 530 high-resolution satellite observations across 18 sites to identify and better understand methane emissions. The campaign detected 308 methane plumes and identified 26 persistent emissions sources, with operators confirming 15 of them on the ground. By combining satellite data with local expertise and technical support, OGCI helped operators pinpoint previously unknown sources and identify opportunities for targeted mitigation. By October 2023, operators in Algeria and Kazakhstan had confirmed the mitigation of three large, persistent methane sources, with a combined average emissions rate of 3,200 kg of methane per hour. Satellite technology can help make methane emissions visible, but collaboration with local operators and on-site measurements is essential to turn data into action. Plant a tree, dig it up every spring to check the roots, replant it, wonder why it never grows. That's basically Europe and the 2035 target right now. 🌱
Is Europe backing away from its 2035 car target? The EU's current rule calls for a 100% cut in average tailpipe CO₂ emissions from new cars. The Commission has proposed 90% instead, while France and Germany are pushing for more flexibility. The key detail: a proposal isn't a law. The 2035 rule hasn't changed yet. What would more flexibility mean for Europe's car industry? Follow O3 Sustainability for more climate and sustainability insights. #ElectricVehicles #ClimatePolicy #o3sustainability
