We must put race equality at the top of our bargaining agenda to demand change that benefits all workers.
And we must organise to secure the next generation of black activists & trade union leaders – ensuring unions look & sound even more like the members we represent #TUC21
An important session on tackling structural racism at #TUC21 A power opening speech on behalf of @The_TUC GC led by our very own GS @PatrickR_NASUWT followed by the brilliant Gloria Mills @unisontheunion Mobilising & organising for racial justice @NASUWT

I do strongly believe that Parliament set a dangerous precedent by saying MPs didn’t have to wear masks, but staff did.
For me, there is no difference between me, the cleaning staff, and the IT technicians.
Parliament has got to stop reinforcing this weird toxic culture.

Ah I will be looking at this every day! 🥳🥳💫💗 I am so proud of myself, 6 years at the @OpenUniversity, then completed my PGCE, but it has been so worth it! Now I'm ready to hopefully complete a Masters in Deaf education and become a teacher of the Deaf 😍🥳💫 #edutwitter #NQT

Are there not enough staff left in schools to do the figures? 🤭

Mount Kelly Staff Strike over pensions.
Their pay deductions for striking deducted at an hourly rate has made staff realise just how badly they are paid (below state sector) and comparable with pay for young people without degrees. No wonder worried about pensions.
Day 4 of Mount Kelly Strike today.
Fair pensions for staff- no hire and rehire. Staff want to keep the pensions they were recruited with-not a lower pension being forced on them. School can afford these pensions. @Mount_Kelly @MountKellySwim

Education recovery, which depends on recruiting & retaining skilled teachers, is being jeopardised by the dogmatic pursuit of a failed policy of performance related pay & the arbitrary decision to freeze teachers’ pay from this September @EduPolicyInst

Mount Kelly Action.
You should take strength in the fact that you are taking the best action to protect a world class education for your pupils and so your colleagues can be the best they can be in the classroom and outside. #fireandrehire

Threatening teachers with dismissal if they refuse to accept a downgrading of their pension entitlements is both reprehensible & an insult to the dedication that staff have shown to pupils & to the school throughout the pandemic. #stopfireandrehire #endfireandrehire

As I said at the TUC last year: fire and rehire is wrong and it should be illegal.
That's why I am supporting @unitetheunion's campaign to outlaw fire and rehire.
