Every time I live through yet another Brazilian election I can’t but marvel at an electoral system that can count 120 million votes in a single evening. Take a bow, Brazil

Are we allowed to call the French protests the "Caucasian Spring" then send African reporters there for months on end to discuss political instability in Europe due to authoritarian leadership?
Reading about how Museveni used the ICC and ' the war against terror ' to protract his fight with the LRA and how the ICC thwarted a ceasefire instead calling for a military campaign because the ceasefire agreement involved immunity.
An apt borrowed description of our current existence under this government
is that "we live by chance, die by design"

I heard a woman talk about her half siblings from affairs as “the physical manifestation of my mother’s pain”
The government has a public trust deficit of its own doing and it's not limited to health. The government has lied about everything possible so we can't possibly be surprised that conspiracy theories find fertile minds because GOK is actively working against its citizens.
Watching Airbnb hosts lose their shit over being told that they can't ask guests to do chores is hilarious because they pretend to be being private homes occasionally rented out forgetting that they're hospitality establishments that need to do hospitality work 💀

This is how day 2 ended in Mbeya #Tanzania this evening!
The standoff continues and people have refused to back down - it is about their daily bread!
Maandamano ina misingi ila haina formula au timetable!

Wetangula, as the speaker, has done this multiple times including when the acclamation vote leaned in favour of "no" and he just pretended " yes" won and declared it the result during the 2024 Finance Bill reading.
History will remember him accurately.
I'm watching Bournemouth outclass Milan and realising that it's going to be belt-to-ass against Man United when they meet over the weekend 💀

Many regime apologists hate devolution.
I got a stray for saying this, then everything went black

See the item in red? It's @eCitizenKenya.
@_shakenya made it easier for cartels to run phantom hospitals [unheard in NHIF], while running a 104B system.
Ngiritas et al ate off IFMIS.
The regime's MO is to use e-/IT to replace cartels with new ones, while undermining devolution

This is exactly what Moody Awori wrote about in his memoir. He talked about drainage in Nairobi and how the blueprints were rotting at City Hall because sewers aren't sexy and can't be launched and don't make for good photos.
Optics is a huge part of local politics.
One thing I observe around Africa, compared to what I see in Europe, is that my people are addicted to launching flashy new projects. We don't spend nearly enough time on the dirty, unglamorous work of operations and maintenance (O&M).
You can't really launch maintenance, and that's a problem for many African leaders. There are no ribbon-cutting ceremonies or big headlines. Yet that's where so much of the work should be happening. We need to get better at maintaining what we've already built.
The question is, how do we make maintenance sexy?
