AI helps stupid people at the expense of the environment & if you use it you should probably die
So do you guys actually oppose AI in principle or do you just dislike how AI is used in the context of a capitalist system

The Israeli government committed mass terrorism on Lebanon yesterday. They were not intimidated by whatever the US — their largest weapons supplier — said in response. Politicians & the media meanwhile whitewashed, even glorified it. So they went ahead and did it again today.

‘It’s an absolute disaster’: Secondary school forced to drop subjects due to teacher shortages -Carl O' Brien “I had two classes this morning and asked, ‘lads have you any homework’. And they said, ‘sir, we’ve had three free classes already’. It was only 12 o’clock.” #IrelandisBroken #TeacherCrisis irishtimes.com/ireland/educa…

I first knew her in 1968. She lived behind Hatch Street. I remember she playing “If I had a hammer” again and again and again. She wrote for Magill brilliantly. She was great fun but, at times, difficult. I remember her particularly from a press conference on the publication of the Ryan report, which revealed appalling sex abuse by many priests in the Dublin. It was covered up deligently by bishops here and by the Vatican. She stood up and delivered a tirade, which caused the bishops present to squirm. She damned their appellation “father” and afterwards ridiculed “his holiness”. I thought then she had shattered the power of the Catholic Church here. She emboldened less courageous religious correspondents, and they took off from Nell. It was quite an extraordinary episode. The most powerful institution crumbling before our eyes. She had a difficult several years, loosing her eyesight and her softness. She was revolutionary more significant than the “Republican revolutionaries”. I was privileged to know her.

We have failed the people of Palestine.
🚨This will be the last post we share here. We believe there is no point in telling our human stories anymore; everyone has grown accustomed to seeing us killed. It's no longer worth the risk to send our voice out to a world that is content with mere solidarity. Even many of our human stories no longer interest people (even our voice is being ignored). It's time to stop waiting for a savior and to help ourselves survive. Please try to keep us in your prayers.

"Gazans cannot feed themselves on rhetorical tweaks. A harsher tone will not protect them from US bombs... won't end the genocide. Only forceful action from the United States will... It’s not acceptable to be satisfied with a vibe shift." - @jackmirkinson thenation.com/article/politi…

A delighted conservative panelist on CNN with me tonight said Cori Bush lost because she went against a “powerful” enemy and when I asked who that was, he said “Israel” and then said that “pro Israel” people had flexed their muscles against her. His words, his analysis, not mine
Congratulations to pro-Israel progressive leader Wesley Bell on your victory tonight against anti-Israel Squad member Rep. Cori Bush! Being pro-Israel is good policy and good politics!

The assessment of one older Belfast woman I was speaking to on the attacks. She thinks hateful elements used to target Catholics in the past but in 2024 hateful elements are targeting Muslims and people of colour. “They’ve replaced Catholic businesses with Muslim businesses”

If the first thing you say about trans people is about bathrooms or sports & not about how to make the world safer for these beautiful children of God, you need real help.

NEW: THE STAGGERING RISE OF AMERICA'S GLOBAL ECONOMIC WARFARE 1st in a series @federicacocco & I found: 1. ~1/3 of all nations on Earth now face some form of US sanctions. Huge increase from when mostly applied to Cuba & a handful of regimes 2. +*60%* of *all poor countries* are under US sanctions of some kind. Has become almost a reflex of US foreign policy 3. Sanctions have spawned multi-billion-dollar lobbying & influence industry, enriching former US officials who are hired by foreign countries & oligarchs 4. Sanctions have had devastating effects on innocent civilians. In Cuba, they've made critical medical supplies impossible to import. In Venezuela, they contributed to a financial collapse 3X greater than the US Great Depression. Syria faces its greatest humanitarian crisis this year after a decade civil war & sanctions. 5. Treasury staffers drafted a ~40 page plan aimed at reforming the sanctions process that was dramatically whittled down amid disagreements w/ State 6. OFAC is widely described as overwhelmed by tens of thousands of requests. WH officials have brainstormed sanctions scenarios w/ outside nonprofits 7. Biden has unleashed unprecedented volley of +6K sanctions in 2 years. Higher than even previously unprecedented rate of Trump. “We don’t think about the collateral damage of sanctions the same way we think about the collateral damage of war ... But we should.” More to come. Read our first story here: washingtonpost.com/business/…
