🚨 A $2 TRILLION MORTGAGE DISASTER IS BUILDING IN THE U.S., AND IT COULD MAKE THE 2008 CRISIS LOOK SMALL
The U.S. has roughly $8.3 trillion in fixed rate mortgages, averaging just 4.6% interest, while new mortgage rates are around 7.4%.
Based on a simplified 25-year loan valuation, those mortgages could already be worth $1.94 trillion less, even without a single default.
For comparison, estimated mortgage related losses during the 2008 crisis totaled up to around $1.4 trillion.
That's about 1.4 times that amount, although today's losses are still on paper.
The bigger concern is that these losses don't require homeowners to stop making payments.
They come from the gap between old mortgage rates and current borrowing costs.
In 2023, rising rates helped bring down Silicon Valley Bank after massive losses on long-term securities.
Now a similar interest-rate risk is hanging over a much larger mortgage market.
If institutions are forced to sell at heavy discounts, those paper losses could become real.
The next financial shock might not start with homeowners defaulting. It could start with the institutions holding their mortgages.

Our hand is now catching baseballs.
Open loop control is working way better than expected.
More soon.
people dont realize but the biggest bottleneck to robot efficiency is the engineer's time
why must my robot operate at current speeds? why not 5x faster? why not 50x faster?
- because if its faster it's no longer precise enough and I lose yield
- because my deployment engineers have finite hours to tune it for the task
- because my control engineers have finite hours to model its inverse dynamics
- because my motor engineer have finite hours to ideate and iterate
when we have near infinite compute to design, iterate, build and tune robots down to the actuator level I dont see why I cant recursive super intelligence my way into mass manufacturing qdd robot arms with 10s of micron accuracy/repeatability.

reason #397 why I don't invest in consumer Software, especially AI.

Consumers are not used to paying money for software, social media trained them to expect free, ad supported. And BTW Character AI was a nice to have, shiny thing not solving any real problem that people would pay for anyway.
🌴 Bali has suddenly run out of gasoline
The island has turned into one massive traffic jam. Many gas stations have closed, while drivers are forced to wait for hours to get into those that remain open.
Denpasar, Kuta, Badung and Jembrana have been particularly hard hit. In Jembrana alone, fuel shortages have affected 14 gas stations.
The widespread disruption was caused by delays in the arrival of fuel tankers, Indonesian media report.
