20 years ago at around 5:30 am, Anambra lawmakers impeached Peter Obi because he refused to inflate the state budget and share public money with politicians. If you are criticizing this man on the internet I want you to sit down and think about that for a moment. A governor was removed because he refused to spend money recklessly, refused to satisfy political godfathers and refused to turn public funds into a settlement for lawmakers. They accused him of gross misconduct because he drove a Peugeot 406, bought furniture locally and spent far less than the hundreds of millions approved for renovating the Governor's office and Lodge. They thought they could force him out and end his political journey. They were wrong. The courts overturned his impeachment, and the Supreme Court later reaffirmed his right to complete his constitutionally guaranteed tenure. Twenty years have passed, but one thing remains clear, Peter Obi's refusal to share public money with the corrupt political class was enough to make him their sworn enemy. There are very few politicians in Nigeria like Peter Obi and I strongly believe that God has given us another opportunity to get things right in this country. Nigerians, please, do not take this opportunity for granted.

I had a great time joining the Medical Guild Lagos to celebrate its centenary. Receiving a legacy award from a body that has spent 100 years caring for Lagosians means a great deal to me. Even more special was seeing my wife, Ibijoke, receive an award of her own in recognition of her contributions to healthcare and advocacy. Our doctors and health workers remain the backbone of Lagos. We will continue to support them, upgrade our healthcare facilities and make quality healthcare accessible to everyone in our state. Thank you to the Medical Guild for the honour and congratulations on 100 remarkable years.

🗣️ Fleetwood Town manager on Mikel Arteta: Q: Did you get the chance to speak to him after full-time? “No, because I've not. He shook my hand two or three times, and he was really, really gracious. I can imagine it's a really disappointing night for him. “But yeah, the way that he acted with class is amazing, really. And I would love to catch up with him, pick his brain and learn off the best. “But he's been really busy with media and all the emotion, like the crowd, so we've not managed to cross paths. “But he said ‘well done’ in the tunnel briefly and how well we did, and that was it. “And obviously, a show of class from him.”

Honestly I don't think any hospital turns away medical emergencies. The problem is Nigerians need to understand that there is a breakdown of Healthcare structure already, Referral is not neglect a patient. I'd explain An average private hospital in Nigeria isn't equipped to handle most medical emergencies, I don't want to even talk about PHCs that should be the bedrock of Healthcare, A lot of them are Deados. Let's use an example, A Diabetic emergency is rushed into the hospital with high glucose and they need insulin. How many of these private hospitals even stock Insulin... in big 2026, when government isn't giving us 24/7 light, how many will stock insulin? Of course if they see such , the only smart and wise option is to refer to another facility where they can get this care. Were they rejected ? No. But they were directed to a place to get help Now imagine they go to another hospital plagued with the same problem, and they also refer.. were they rejected ? No That's what happens when there is poverty and lack of investment in healthcare. Now let's imagine they even make their way to the hospital. Since all the tiers of healthcare are broken down, the teaching hospitals and federal centers that should be the quarternary level of care are burdened with every simple case. What is Malaria doing in a teaching hospital? What is A minor laceration doing a teaching hospital? These are cases PHCs can handle. Oopps I forgot, most are dead. But these teaching hospitals have no choice than to admit and care for these cases, because if they say go to a lower tier, same people will come to media and say they were rejected. Now we have all these cases in the hospitals and beds are filled When patients then come, where will you put patients? Of course. There is no space and this is current situation but what will the public say. They rejected us. If we will win. These are my proposed strategies We need to demand the government to do better. FIX PHCS!!!! Primary health centers will lessen a lot Revamp existing.. I won't say create new ones. The ones that are there already are dead. Fix the secondary and tertiary Healthcare Mandate insurance for the whole country. The government cannot do it alone . You need to have private public partnerships. Fix the government hospitals Invest in Healthcare, healthcare in Nigeria has hit a nadir, poor funding, poor remuneration, lack of personnels These are easy fixes. Consider investing in telemedicine. It will solve a lot of these bottle necks. If we don't fix it one at a time. We will keep complaining and the cycle will continue. And people need to understand, Referral is not rejection. Don't always think giving fluid is equivalent to saving lives. There are emergencies that you need to get to a facility with appropriate equipments ASAP Even the time wasted trying to salvage will kill the patient and what will the public say again? "You know you don't have facilities and equipment. Why didn't you tell us. You killed my Sister! " So you see
When we are ready, let’s discuss people being turned away at hospitals, especially during medical emergencies.

Part of our vision for Nigeria and Africa is to build a place where someone from anywhere in the world would choose Nigeria for their healthcare. I think that’s the level of healthcare infrastructure we should be thinking about. The Nigeria where our institutions are good enough to attract people here And I find it interesting that the Business of Health Conference happening in Lagos on October 17th will be having some of these conversations. Dear Peter Obi, At first you said you will not back a subsidy return and now you back it. It’s essential for Nigerian to know where you stand as regards this matter I will like see a policy paper on subsidy by the NDC. A position paper is needed
