Thank you, President Trump @POTUS for once again holding the Kagame regime accountable. By terminating Rwanda’s AGOA eligibility, you have sent a clear message that trade privileges are not a free pass for authoritarianism, human rights abuses, and Kagame's practices that pose a threat to U.S. national security and foreign policy interests in the region.
Never before was there a leader like President Trump who dared to call out Paul Kagame’s wrongs by terminating Rwanda’s AGOA eligibility and imposing sanctions over its role in the eastern Congo conflict.
President Trump is the only U.S. president to bring the leaders of Rwanda and the DRC together for the Washington Accords to end the nearly 30-year conflict in eastern Congo after decades of failed efforts by others. The Rwandan and Congolese people who have endured years of suffering under Kagame regime warmly welcome President Trump’s principled stand for peace, accountability, and a brighter future.

This is Dr. Von Batten. I applaud the people of the #DRC, their bold President, Félix Tshisekedi (@FelixUdps @Presidence_RDC), and their amazing diplomatic team for their relentless fight in D.C. to give President @PaulKagame a taste of his own medicine.
AGOA is just the beginning. We believe that it is in the national security interests of the United States for true democracy to return to Rwanda. Unlike former President #Kabila, who rolled out the red carpet for his boss, #Kagame, to murder innocent Congolese and plunder the natural resources of the DRC, President Tshisekedi has made it clear: "Not on my watch."
Today, this firm makes another prediction: If #Kagame continues on his #M23 course of action, he will one day either suffer the fate of #Gaddafi or that of Charles Taylor: Face the justice of a liberated Rwandan people or spend the rest of his life in an international prison cell. For the national security interests of the United States and the DRC are now intertwined. #FAFO

President @realDonaldTrump signed a short-term extension of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) on February 3, 2026.
This firm is once again actively pushing the White House to remove the Republic of #Rwanda from the #AGOA eligibility list due to clear violations of Section 104 of the Act stemming from its role in facilitating war crimes and human rights violations in eastern #DRC.
President @PaulKagame, if you think this is a bluff, ask Prime Minister @AbiyAhmedAli of Ethiopia. He thought we were bluffing in 2021.

Rwanda isn't in good hands. This is what I call building on a foundation of ashes -relying on temporary, self-enriching policies where 1person is e/thing. His advisors fear him deeply; they're forced to study his moods& tell him only what he wants to hear, rather than the facts.
🇨🇩🇺🇸 NBA Faces November 2 Deadline to Explain Rwanda Partnership
US Senators Jeff Merkley and Marsha Blackburn are demanding answers from NBA Commissioner Adam Silver over the league's ties to Kagame's Rwanda, warning of potential sportswashing amid the M23 conflict in eastern DR Congo.
With fresh US sanctions targeting Rwanda's Defense Ministry, the lawmakers want to know whether the NBA will reconsider its commercial partnership.
Deadline: November 2, 2026.

President @PaulKagame is used to bullying weak leaders, leaders like former President Kabila. President Félix Tshisekedi (@Presidence_RDC, @FelixUdps), unlike former President Kabila, is prepared to defend his country's sovereignty and natural resources. The DRC is fighting back.
Today, the @realDonaldTrump administration informed Congress that #Rwanda will be removed from the AGOA eligibility list due to violations of Section 104 of the Act.

A BLUE HELMET CANNOT SHIELD A SANCTIONED MILITARY FROM ACCOUNTABILITY.
The Rwanda National Congress and affiliated civil-society organizations have submitted an open letter to UN Secretary-General António Guterres and senior UN officials demanding the removal of Rwandan forces from UN peacekeeping missions.
The letter raises a fundamental contradiction: how can the United Nations continue deploying and reimbursing forces linked to a defence establishment sanctioned by the United States over Rwanda’s military involvement in the Democratic Republic of Congo and its support for M23?

Mr. Nagy, a threat, perceived or real, is not equivalent to thousands killed and millions displaced. When you served in government, would you have equated fear of an attack in a dark alley with decades of violence, rape and forced displacement? “Sanction both sides” erases that distinction—and suggests Congolese lives count for less. They do not.
If the US wants to be objective in helping end the long running Rwanda/DRC face-off in Eastern Congo, then sanctioning only one side will not help. The Tshisekedi Govt has its own proxies that threaten Rwanda, so why not sanction all the troublemakers?

To me, it is a clear indicator that Rwanda is no longer the country of Rwandans, but Kagame's personal property. Public officials make mistakes against him, not Rwanda. He punishes & forgives whomever he wants, whenever he wants, regardless of the crime.

A mistake isn't a personality trait, unless u allow automation to turn it into a characteristic that keeps repeatedly activating itself inside of u. The main problem isn't amplifying the mistake, but rather losing sight of our common enemy as compatriots on the same mission.
Jean Paul, @jpturayishimye, what are your real intentions—to establish the truth, or to spread a smear while hiding behind “I am not endorsing the message”?
You amplify a serious accusation, tag me, and demand that I defend myself. What did you verify before circulating it?
This is cheap, and it leaves you naked before the very audience you are trying to impress. Your disclaimer cannot conceal your decision to give the accusation a wider platform.
If you have evidence, present it. Otherwise, stop dressing gossip up as accountability.
My refusal to entertain baseless allegations is not an admission. Sir, I will not dignify every smear with a rebuttal!
Your decision to amplify them is yours to explain.
Exactly what Gen. Muhoozi warned us about: the mo a Tutsi Kagame laughs with u, the mo likely u're to die. Remember, he treated #Kizito like his own son, but eliminated him in the end. It’s not an act of a helping.., but rather keeping his sacrifices fattened for the slaughter.
THE SADDEST PART IS NOT THE STORY #KAGAME TELLS. IT IS THE STORY THAT NEVER GETS TOLD.
Who was #LtkalisaMupende? the tragic story of a young man pres. kagame helped raise, only to see his life end in prison. 💔
Many were moved by @PaulKagame's story on #MeetThePresident about the young man he raised, educated in Uganda, India and the University of Manchester, and celebrated at his wedding in @UrugwiroVillage .
His name was Lt. Kalisa Mupende, who later became Director of Finance in Kagame’s office and Chairman of the Development Bank of Rwanda (BRD).
But behind that touching story lies a painful reality. In 2008, Kagame beat Mupende in front of senior officials over curtains for the presidential office, after Mupende awarded the contract to the wife of the late Gen. Fred Rwigema, a decision that angered Kagame. ( Cfr. medium.com/@david.himbara_27…)
Imprisoned in 2009, briefly released in 2015, then jailed again, Mupende died mysteriously behind bars on September 20, 2019, after a decade in prison.
💔 Imagine being given education, opportunities and hope, only for your life to end behind prison walls.
Before being moved by Kagame’s emotional stories, remember Kalisa Mupende. What about the people behind the stories? What painful truths remain untold?
