Before Twitter disintegrates fully: In the next months, we are planning to recruit at least one more PhD student at @neuroMADLAB (in Bonn).
The focus will be on gut-brain interactions in the regulation of motivation. Good command of German is required.

You know a talented student who is interested in getting a PhD? My new team @UniWH is growing, and I look forward to applications. German language skills are required due to teaching. Please retweet widely! 🙏

Going to the #PuG2023 and interested in touch research? Then fight the after-party sleepiness with coffee and come to our symposium in room N9 Saturday at 9am. With @EstherEKuehn; @xaverfuchs; @Katya_Schn; @PengLiu_Claudia

In our large cross-sectional EMA study we found that affectionate touch 🫂 is linked to higher endogenous oxytocin🧪 and subjective well-being 🙃☀️ in times of pandemic: doi.org/10.7554/eLife.81241 @DoraHopf @EcksteinMonika @DirkScheele85 @aguilar_raab @MedPsychUKHD @UtaSailer

Pre-print of my first first-author paper finally online! 🤩
How is it possible that marketing labels 🏷️ affect how we perceive food products 🍫? We investigated whether oxytocin and trust 🤝 are relevant for such marketing placebo effects to occur.

Are you tired of the discussion whether to move to #Mastodon or not 🤔? Just relax, and read our new paper about oxytocin-estradiol interactions and sex differences in episodic memory 🥳. This was a massive effort led by @MCoenjaerts 👏. 1/3
sciencedirect.com/science/ar…
We combined exogeneous estradiol and oxytocin administrations and scanned over 200 participants with fMRI. Long story short, both hormones modulated hippocampus activation and may contribute to better episodic memory in women. 2/3
Surprisingly, we found some preliminary evidence for an antagonistic interaction of both hormones. This effect could be dose-dependent, but it clearly speaks against simplistic mono-causal hormone models. Many thanks to all the twitterless coauthors and @HurlemannRene 3/3

New preprint! We found that short term isolation increases reward seeking and reinforcement learning rates in adolescents (N=40, within-subject). Access to social media partially remediates isolation effects but also decreases learning from social feedback psyarxiv.com/ndt9k/
