Saturday night wasn’t just two blown calls on back to back Hail Marys. @FloridaState has every reason to question whether the ACC’s vendetta against them has made its way onto the field. FSU stood up to the ACC when nobody else wanted to. They fought to escape the garbage deal its leadership put them in, and now they’re fighting the “Protect” College Sports Act, which raises serious questions about whether the ACC is trying to protect its own interests at their expense. College football is big business, and the explosion of sports betting has raised the stakes even higher. Sports betting isn’t a fad, and it’s not going away. With billions of dollars riding on game outcomes, we can’t afford to ignore the growing risk of corruption. When refs see coaches making millions and players cashing in, they’re not immune to the temptation to get their own piece of the pie. They’re human, too. And that raises serious questions about accountability and the integrity of the game. Investigating the officials is step one. It’s time to hold the ACC accountable.

The calf was born last night. The bear showed up this morning... Our donkey went at it before the cow even knew it was there. Braying, rearing, kicking. The bear went back into the woods and the calf stood up for the first time right after.

Duke won the ACC, has started 3-0 with wins over Tulane, at Illinois and Stanford and are unranked. Penn State won 7 games, fired their coach, has beaten Marshall, Buffalo and Temple and are ranked 13th. WTF are we doing here

BREAKING: France is facing a growing fuel shortage with 11% of the country's gas stations now reporting that they are out of stock of either gas or diesel, according to the latest data published by the French government. In parts of the country, this figure now stands as high as 16%. Meanwhile, the average price of diesel is up to €2.38 per liter, less than 1% away from a record high, and the average price of gasoline is also at or above record highs. French President Macron convened an emergency meeting to discuss the crisis and the government is preparing to offer financial support to high-mileage drivers. Energy inflation is skyrocketing.

Nick Saban out here honoring teachers in the end zone. During a lightning delay. Is it dangerous out there or not? Don’t the lives of teachers matter too?

College football makes too much money for US to pay the player's salaries. But here I go paying for season tickets, booster fees, Battle's End, and Coaches Clubs like a dumbass. The fans don't donate to NFL teams to pay their salaries. Why do we? – at Keyton, AL

Your glasses cost $5 to make. You paid $300. And one company you've never heard of is the reason why. Luxottica owns Ray-Ban. They own Oakley. They own Persol. They own Oliver Peoples. They own Costa. They own Arnette. They make the glasses for Prada, Chanel, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry, Giorgio Armani, and Michael Kors. They own LensCrafters. They own Pearle Vision. They own Sunglass Hut. They own Target Optical. They own the online retailer Glasses.com. They own EyeMed the vision insurance provider that tells you where to buy your glasses. And they own the lab that makes your lenses. One company controls the frames. The brands. The stores. The insurance. The lenses. And the price. A guy spent 11 years working in the optical industry 4 in a lab making lenses, 3 managing a retail optical store, 4 consulting for independent eyewear brands trying to compete with Luxottica. He told me: "The frame on your face cost between $2 and $5 to manufacture. The lenses cost $1.50 to $3. You paid $300–$700. That's not a markup. That's a scheme. And it only works because one corporation owns every step between the factory and your face and nobody knows it." "There are 4 billion people on Earth who need vision correction. Most of them are paying a 1,000%–2,000% markup on a medical device they literally cannot live without because the entire industry from factory to face is controlled by one company pretending to be 50 different brands." "The glasses on your face right now are almost certainly made in the same Italian factory as every 'luxury' brand on the wall at Sunglass Hut the store that Luxottica also owns." Here are 10 things the glasses industry doesn't want you to know and exactly how to stop overpaying for a product that costs less than your morning coffee to make: 🧵

I was standing at a bar on Amelia Island yesterday when a small Chinese guy came in, stood next to me, and started drinking a beer. I asked him, “Do you know any of those martial arts things, like kung fu, karate, or jiu-jitsu?” He said, “No, why would you even ask me that? Is it because I’m Chinese?” “No,” I said. “It’s because you’re drinking my beer, you little bastard.”

This morning, the Coldstream Guards at Buckingham Palace performed a tribute to Dolly Parton. The last time I remember the guards at the palace honoring the memory of an American entertainer was when they paid tribute to Aretha Franklin after she passed away. Well deserved!

In 1988 Dolly Parton pulled every 7th and 8th grader in Sevier County into a room and told them to pick a buddy. She made them sign a contract.. if BOTH graduate, she hands you both $500. One fails, nobody gets paid. The county dropout rate went from 35% to 6%. She handed out the checks herself. In 1989 she offered $500 to every kid in the county who wanted to go to the local college. When Gatlinburg burned in 2016, she sent 900 families $1,000 a month for six months. You've probably heard that part. Here's the part you haven't: The fund raised more than expected, so she showed up in May and handed every one of those families another $5,000 on top. Then she quietly put $3 million into the recovery group that handles the years after the news trucks leave. She built her county an entire hospital. She played a benefit concert in 2007, Dollywood and the Stampede matched it, and LeConte Medical Center opened in 2010 with a birthing unit and a women's center in it. In 2022 she started covering 100% of tuition, books, and fees for Dollywood employees. Full-time, part-time, AND seasonal. In 1991 she paid for a bald eagle sanctuary because the birds couldn't be released back into the wild, no press release. And when Hurricane Helene came through here in Western North Carolina, she wrote a personal check for $1 million and her companies matched it. She didn't owe North Carolina anything, but she helped us anyway. She started the Imagination Library because her daddy couldn't read or write. Before he passed, he told her it was the most important thing she ever did. Rest in Peace, Dolly 🇺🇸
