We went to see ballet today and the girl next to us brought a 24-piece ferrero rocher box and unwrapped each piece before the performance started and ate all of them before the first interval. She made absolutely no noise. Pure class. I hope you had a wonderful time, diva.

Maybe she shouldn't let the kid toddle around either until it's motor skills are fully developed. Toddlers break things and make messes.
Oh, and when the kid is 16 she shouldn't let them practice driving either until they are naturally perfect drivers. they might crash the car.

Nah I'm happy to see kids analyzing and dissecting lyrics. If Taylor swift is the one to help fix the youth literacy crisis, so be it

I don’t understand so many teachers’ impulse to put into the hands of teenagers only books that explore the thoughts of fictional teenagers who are in circumstances that closely mirror their own.
One of the chief pleasures of literature is being introduced to someone who’s been dead for two hundred years and has something considerably more interesting to say than you do.
We should not encourage kids to think that their own quotidian and provincial thoughts are the pinnacle of what’s important in the world. They should read the masters and realize how small they are, and how large they can aspire to be.

My favourite part of the traitors this episode was Ross Kemp who films documentaries in war and crime zones, having a paranoid breakdown because Leigh-Anne from little mix stroked his arm. I've missed this show #CelebrityTraitors

The reason you end up with education experts saying absurd things like "it's developmentally inappropriate for a child to learn letters at age 3"
is because *some* kids are genuinely not developmentally ready to learn letters at age 3
But there is an implicit and unquestionable assumption in education that all kids are the same
and so if it's developmentally inappropriate for some kids to learn letters at 3, then we must declare that it's developmentally inappropriate for all kids to learn letters at 3.
God forbid we should say something like:
"Some kids might be ready to read at age 3 and enjoying chapter books before they arrive at kindergarten. Other kids might not be ready to learn to read until age 6.
So let's make sure we have a classroom ready to support and challenge those kindergarteners who can already read Harry Potter and make sure they keep progressing
And lets make sure we have a classroom ready to support and challenge those kindergarteners who are just barely ready to begin learning their letters."

It's not developmentally appropriate for a child to learn individual letters at 2½ or 3, says Susan Neuman, a professor of childhood and literacy education at New York University

Imagine a group of powerful, well-connected anorexics gather and formulate a plot to reject the psychiatric framing of anorexia and turn their illness into a healthy identity.
They make it discrimination and bigotry to call anorexia a mental disorder and frame access to liposuction and Ozempic as medically necessary and a human right.
The whole world goes along with this.
In the field of anorexia-affirming care, an anorexic receives immediate affirmation of her anorexic identity and unfettered access to the weight-loss medical treatments that her disorder demands.
No psychotherapeutic attempt is made to loosen the grip of the belief.
Then, instead of measuring success by objective outcomes such as physical health and quality of life, researchers in the field opt for self-report: in other words, after giving the anorexic the very treatments that her disorder compels her to seek, the researchers ask her if she is happy.
When she says yes, this confirms that Ozempic and liposuction are beneficial and appropriate treatments for anorexia.
That is the medical world’s current approach to managing the trans phenomenon.
