Journos. Ask him about the stage. Ask him about how the bike felt on the corners. Ask him where he feels he got the time on everyone and where the others got time on him. He is here to step away from the grief. So talk cycling. Not his brother. For God’s sake.

Tragic accident. A car driven by a member of the public finds itself on the course isn’t an accident. What a loss
This is terrible. What a loss.
Everyone at Netcompany INEOS is heartbroken by the tragic passing of Finlay Tarling.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Josh, Michael, Dawn and the entire Tarling family, as well as Fin’s teammates, friends and all those who knew and loved him
We stand together with Josh and his family at this incredibly difficult time.

Why did I stop speaking after Pogačar’s Tourmalet performance?
Because no matter what I or anyone else posted about him or that stage, everything came to one thing… doping. Every single comment section about him is still flooded with people who are convinced they have discovered everything, know everything, and I am just blind, naive, childish, or whatever they think of.
For me, the reality is simple… There is zero credible evidence suggesting that Pogačar or any of the other 5 riders who broke the Tourmalet record are not clean, while there is plenty of evidence that they are.
And I just don’t want that kind of constant negativity on my page or in my life, and I know you can’t fight with these people, because they always have their truth. If you want to watch the Tour de France believing in that negativity, that’s your choice. I’ll be on the other side, enjoying the race I’ve been waiting for all year and being happy with it.

May I add. The fun of rewatching House is watching for the moment House (Hugh Laurie) and his team dismiss the right answer and why…amazing show.

Thanks for your critique, Janet. We actually tried a couple of episodes where House (Hugh Laurie) (please put the brackets in the right place) gets it right first time, but they were only 6 minutes long. NBC weren’t happy. Then we tried some where House never gets it right and the patient dies. The audience wasn’t happy.
One could apply your trenchant analysis to other art forms: JS Bach wrote 30 Goldberg variations on the same chord structure; Frida Kahlo painted 50 portraits of herself; Henry Moore, what??
The point is, or was, variations on a theme; if all you see is hospital, medical blah blah, then it wasn’t meant for you.
Nonetheless, I look forward to your first novel!

Think about the distance in their legs, the stress of keeping Dylan and Jonny high in the peloton knowing that this corner means everything for the sprint. They’re tired, it’s raining, it’s cobbles, and they have to exit this turn first. It’s an unnecessary stressor.
Incredible response

You have to build it around the strengths and weaknesses of your team and your game model.
That can vary massively from having wingers who can consistently win the ball back, to whether you set up with a 9–15 or 10–15 backfield, and what your chase detail looks like off the back of that.
It also links to how you defend and what your overall game model looks like. Gold standard example are South Africa, often kick short so their forwards aren’t wasting energy on long kick sprints, then being asked to fly off the line defensively only for the opposition to kick long back to them and overwork them in an already high tempo game.
• Saves forward energy
• Strong aerial wingers
• Good transition attack
• Best scrum in the world if you or the opposition knock it on
• Opportunity to be aggressive defensively, as opposition are playing off scrums in the 5–15m channel
If the scrum is a genuine strength like it is for South Africa / England /Italy (currently) the short kicking game can give you huge return.
It cant be random, it can’t sit with just one coach who works one side of the ball. It has to be aligned to team identity and game model which can allow your repeatable opportunities to bring the strengths of your game to life.
A HUGE part of the game, especially Test level where the devil really is in the detail and you need to be an every time team.
So nice to see such patriotism. Scotland play Canada today in a must win match and Wales play Fiji. England have to get through the Banana skin that could be Samoa. Ireland face Spain on Sunday. #RugbyWorldCup #WomensRugby #redroses
Class. We need this. Really concise. Translated into understandable language and all in real time. Amazing @davidflatman
This is the best scrummaging analysis I’ve ever seen from a major broadcaster

Ah the ‘is Rocky Horror problematic’ chat. Through a 2024 lens - of course it is. But babies, being gay was *illegal* in England 6 years before Rocky was first staged in ‘73.
It was brave, bold & brilliant for its time. Look beyond the end of your own nose, just briefly. Please.
