Patrick Stewart. Turned up so early and so unobtrusively to be a star in the reasonably priced car, we mistook him for a delivery driver and asked him to go round the back. Took his hat off and said, “But I’m the captain of the Enterprise”. Fucking nice guy.

This seems like a great time to reshare my favourite Sir Patrick Stewart performance, ‘What has the ECHR ever done for us?’ It’s just perfect in every possible way … including the ending 😂😂😂 RIP.

This is what a valid prayer card looks like, @Nigel_Farage.
Got one today. Attended prayers. Seat reserved. No altercation required.
Happy to show you how it works sometime.

It is disgraceful that after pitching Labour as serious on defence, Healey and Streeting are cutting the military's resource budget by nearly £1 billion next year.
This will leave our troops worse off and undermine our security.
Shameful.

Absolutely barmy. What a way to disengage the public from archaeology.

This stuff angers me so much.
An older building, actually restored for once. Someone not smashing it up to make student flats. Tradesmen, who care about their craft, restoring the brickwork and windows. The paintwork is excellent, and it’s great to see sash windows matching older tiles.
It’s a joy to see buildings like this. Not least in Portsmouth where so many have been lost. Makes a change doesn’t it?
But some little scrote thinks he’s more important than all that - more important than the thoughtful decisions, more important than the effort, and the physical labour, discernment and expertise of the craftsmen. His tag, which took ten seconds, matters more than all that. And more than them.
It’s pure, unadulterated narcissism. And a complete lack of respect for everyone else. I’ll never understand why some socialists, who care about the public realm, think such narcissistic behavior is acceptable. It’s a sign of deep spiritual alienation.

I’m not going to agree with Andy Burnham on everything, but this statement needed to be said by a Prime Minister. After the Conservatives suppressed the truth for years, this took courage.

This week marks the start of Baby Loss Awareness Week 2026.
It is a time to honour the lives of all babies who have sadly died, at any stage of their pregnancy or life. We acknowledge that many families across the country tell us that they do not have suitable support or resources they need at the time of their bereavement.
This week we join the very many charities, organisations and families across the country in raising awareness. Brighton Pier, Nottingham City Council House, Nottingham Cathedral of St Barnabas, Chichester City Council House and the Holy Cross, and St Ia Church in St Ives are illuminating their buildings in pink and blue to show solidarity with families across the country.
Throughout the week, the Review Team will take part in activities to remember all bereaved families. Today, our team will release flowers along Chichester canal as part of our annual river walk.
The Review Team recognises the lifelong harm and consequences that bereavement can bring, so if you feel that you need additional support at this time please make contact with the psychological support team made available to all families and family members included within the Review.

That the antisemitic entryists who have captured the Green Party, are being antisemitic, is no surprise. That the Party Leader skipped this vote and failed to use his authority to argue against them, is an astonishing act of weakness. Real Greens are welcome in the Lib Dems…
