A friend recently asked me which digital payments app I was using. When I told her, she promptly asked, “Why not use BHIM, our very own Indian app?” I admitted I didn’t know much about it. “Well, let me introduce you to someone you’ll enjoy meeting.” That someone was Dilip Asbe, MD & CEO of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). Dilip kindly agreed to come over for a chat. That conversation was illuminating, to put it mildly. We all know the payment apps we use every day. PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, BHIM… But think of them as trains running on a railway network. NPCI provides the tracks. And what an extraordinary railway India has built! In September, UPI alone processed over 2,400 crore transactions. That’s more than 80 crore transactions every single day! India is now the world’s largest real-time payments market. A true global force multiplier. And Dilip has been one of the key people behind that remarkable achievement. His mind is buzzing with plans to build more ‘railroads’ that will enable new apps in wider financial spheres. But here’s what struck me most about him. Not the scale of his achievement. Not his knowledge of the technology. His humility. Dilip is well known in financial & technology circles. But I met a man with no airs, no sense of self-importance & seemingly little interest in the spotlight. Just immense pride in what his team has accomplished & a genuine sense of privilege at being able to serve his country. I also learned that his mother was a teacher. Perhaps I’m biased, but I’ve always believed that mothers who are teachers have a special knack for instilling values that last a lifetime. And I couldn’t help wondering if that explained something about Dilip’s grounded personality. People like him derive their satisfaction not from being seen, but from seeing their work make a difference. Thank you, Dilip, for the conversation. And for reminding me that ambition & humility can indeed travel together on the railroad to success. And I’ve switched to the BHIM app now! #MondayMotivation

1/5 Sharjeel Imam has given an interview detailing his Islamist manifesto. Surprisingly, no storm has been kicked up over pronouncements that are so unapologetically anti-liberal, anti-secular, anti-democracy, anti-Constitution—in a word, anti-national. 2/5 He openly calls the Constitution fascist, labels secularism a trap, and denounces democracy as a contrivance to deny Muslims their political rights. 3/5 The piece is a litany of indictments against the liberal class. Imam rejects any difference between liberals and Hindutvadis. In his essentialist worldview, all Hindus are the same, unanimous in denying Muslims political power they claim as a divine right. 4/5 Inadvertently, Sharjeel has recognised something that liberals have been fighting shy of acknowledging: that Hindutva’s idea of India is anchored in the same “overarching nationalist framework”— that Muslims are Indians above all else. 5/5 For more, read this Opinion article by Ibn Khaldun Bharati, who looks at Islam from an Indian perspective: Sharjeel Imam’s Islamist manifesto will be forgotten. The silence of liberals will not theprint.in/opinion/sharjeel…

Have heard numerous farewell speeches; none could match the pessism in DG ITBP's speech. BTW, he, an IPS, was appointed DG in January this year and is retiring on 31 October. I have always stood by conviction that CAPF must have cadre officers who rise through the ranks and not IPS parachutist who come and go as if on a break. This short video is also about the lopsided interpretation by our mainstream media. youtu.be/rqbIb0DA2gQ?si=gfdD…

All respect to the DG. But he being an IPS officer that I am sure he is, you must try connect with MoD for true picture and correct understanding of the ground situation. @Jairam_Ramesh
While the self-styled Vishwaguru’s calibrated concessions to China continue, the DG, ITBP, has lauded—and rightly so—its performance in recent face-offs with the PLA in Arunachal Pradesh, on which there has been a deafening silence from the PM and his establishment. Corps commander talks were held at Wacha and Damai in Arunachal Pradesh last month after the Taksing face-off. Locals had reported that patrolling points had been lost once again, as in Ladakh. China continues to rename our towns in Arunachal Pradesh and is building a 60,000-MW dam that threatens our ecological and water security. India’s trade deficit with China zoomed even further to a record $112 billion in 2025–26, up from $99 billion the previous year. This has simply crushed our MSMEs in many industries. Make in India has become Import from China. This staggering trade deficit is in itself a very significant threat to our economic security. India has been paying the price for the PM’s infamous clean chit to China on June 19, 2020, when he said, after 20 of our brave jawans had been martyred: “ना कोई वहाँ हमारी सीमा में घुस आया है और न ही कोई घुसा हुआ है, न ही हमारी कोई पोस्ट किसी दूसरे के कब्ज़े में है।” The retired Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Naravane, has revealed that the only instructions he received while at the helm, when Chinese incursions took place in Ladakh, were: “जो उचित समझो वो करो।” On July 4, 2025, the Deputy Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Rahul Singh, had spoken publicly on China’s both intensively and extensively embedded role in Pakistan’s military campaign during our Operation Sindoor. Yet, on August 25, 2026, the retired Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Anil Chauhan, publicly contradicted Lt. Gen. Rahul Singh’s revelations and, soon thereafter, took over a think tank that is a key part of the RSS/BJP ecosystem.

Yes, visualising a long-term plan could well be a challenge for you. After all, the political party you support couldn’t even decide whether the few flyovers it built should have single or double lanes. Apparently, even that depended on the whims and fancies of The Family’s friends.
Who the f*** has seen 2047 or believes in what you can get done by it. Your account from 2014 to 2026 is dismal and that is what matters.

1 million years from now, the Somalian tectonic plate is going to collide with the Indian tectonic plate. That collision will create an equally high mountain range like the Himalaya on the western coast. Imagine being the first Somalian to trek up till Pune, only to see Hinjawadi metro still not inaugurated.

Mr Sardesai it is quite literally a Judge’s job to ask all sorts of questions to ascertain the truth - much like it is a journalist’s job to ask questions (I am sure you are familiar with that concept). Justice Prasad did nothing wrong in asking questions about the petitioners who were before him. Age is a very important fact that conveys many things about a person - which is why even in news reports a persons age is usually always mentioned. Besides, asking questions is an age old legal principle and practice, statutorily enshrined under Section 165 (now section 168 BSA) of the erstwhile Evidence Act, which empowers judges to ask questions that might even seem irrelevant to someone : “The Judge may, in order to discover or to obtain proper proof of relevant facts, ask any question he pleases, in any form, at any time, of any witness, or of the parties about any fact relevant or irrelevant; and may order the production of any document or thing; and neither the parties nor their agents shall be entitled to make any objection to any such question or order…” Hence as a criminal lawyer one is flabbergasted that the lawyers appearing for Mr Das and Mr Ranka rudely interrupted the judge and questioned the relevance of the question so posed, when - instead of simply answering the questions! Not interrupting a judge needlessly is a basic custom of legal practice - but even from an advocacy perspective, why would you needlessly be rude to a judge who is simply trying to understand the contours of the facts before him! Arguing in court doesn’t mean literally arguing with a judge or automatically assuming that the judge is hostile to your client - be humble and answer the judges questions first and thereafter make your legal submissions - strange that these elementary principles are being ignored.
INTERESTING: The Delhi High Court judge seemed more interested in the age of Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka than their personal liberty . By the way, Judge Saheb, Saurav is born in Jan 2000 so is very much Gen Z. And Ashutosh is 31. By the way, what difference does age make here is beyond me. 🙏

Et tu, Bibi? I knew that you wouldn’t be able to restrain yourself. Good that you brought into open your “secular” thoughts and “patriotic” sentiments. In your fanatic rage, you have likened me to Ujjwal Nikam, and Sharjeel Imam to Ajmal Kasab. You drew this parallel, not I—your inner thoughts and your moral compass, not mine. You seem to imply that Kasab was innocent, and the State framed him. Bravo, Bibi, bravo. By the way, then, the State was run by those whose dethronement has left you inconsolable. Like many others of your ilk, you are also drawing into discussion an unrelated individual. I hope that he sues you for malicious and insidious doxing. Look, an interview was published. It was hailed by the likes of you as a document—a veritable manifesto—of liberation of Muslims from the slavery of Hindus. It lambasted the liberal class (aren’t you one of them?) for being no different from the Hindu right wing. It called the Constitution (the book that the likes of you have lately become fond of waving) a fascist document, and condemned Nehru for myth making about India’s nationhood. Sharjeel had earlier called Gandhi the greatest fascist of the 20th century. Being a liberal, you should have been up in arms against the contents of this interview. The whole liberal establishment should have been on its feet. But, no. Pin drop silence. Omertà. A hush-hush celebration of what he said. (Since you wish him to be enlarged on bail early, do you think that The Quint did the right thing by publishing such a contentious piece, and that Sharjeel Imam acted in his own best interest by giving this interview?) You expected that interview to go unchallenged. Your grouse against me is for calling out the liberal-Islamist alliance for its telling silence. I had to do what the leading lights of liberals should have done. I argued for the Constitution, for Gandhi and Nehru, and for liberalism and secularism. If you actually believed in these ideals shouldn’t you be thankful to me? By the way, what’s your complaint against me besides my pen-name? Being a liberal-secular person where and why do you disagree with my essay? I know, you disagree with its very existence. But then, you shouldn’t you have voiced your opposition to the publication of the said “interview” itself? But you happily lapped it up. Come, say openly that you didn’t want a counter to that. If not, could you please tell me what’s your precise criticism of my piece? Have I misquoted Sharjeel? Have I made a tendentious selection from his speeches and writings, and reproduced them out of context so that they convey meanings other than intended? Have I misinterpreted and misunderstood him? Ghazala, I will wait for you to write a full scale critique of my piece. Rip me apart, if you have the intellectual wherewithal and moral clarity for that. If not, keep hiding behind my pseudonym.

What all is wrong in this video:- - Dangerously incorrect handling of a loaded weapon - All aspects of safety of weapon handling violated - Pointing a loaded weapon in all directions. Ppl in background are visibly terrified - Firing a service weapon for an unauthorised act in a non authorised dress - Basic weapon handling drill taught in the trg academies not adhered to - Such irresponsible action can cause death or hurt to self or others - Overall a black demo of authority w/o responsibility - Such acts of indiscipline must be appropriately punished to avoid reoccurrence
Ankita Sharma, an IPS officer currently posted as Superintendent of Police (SP) of Rajnandgaon in Chhattisgarh, was seen firing an AK-47 during the Vijayadashami celebrations. Such an act is reckless and reflects a complete disregard for the safety of people in the vicinity.
