hermeneutically sealed
“Hermetically sealed” sounds like a Renaissance demon-controlling technique derived from esoteric Neoplatonic theurgy, but actually refers to like a can of peaches. What’s up with that

it's unfortunate that there isn't an english word that unambiguously means "on what grounds do you believe what you just said to be true"

"why am I letting a group of 12 stangers critique my intensely personal poem about my family trauma?" can you imagine someone expressing this same sentiment about a painting and being taken seriously?

I was dead silent amidst boisterous, often cruel-seeming laughter at my packed YCSE showing in Baltimore, but I burst out a solitary "BUH-ha" when Holmes used the word "annealing" to describe her and her husband's love and nathan immediately checked her on it

FIELDER: When you see this tweet, do you understand what's funny about it? HOLMES: I think so. Babies shouldn't be adult sized. FIELDER: But do you see the way he's talking? Do you see why he can't be talking like that? HOLMES: heh. Well, he's a baby, of course.
Grown up sized white baby I’m friends with: The way I be drinking this damn apple juice…ooh chile😂 Me: You can’t be talking like that White Baby.

"an online friend like whom you have no idea what they look"
“who you have no idea what they look like” makes my teeth ache but how the hell else would you phrase it that’s actually grammatically correct?

not sure anyone needed the clarification about Turkey
Meet Daniel Robson -- Canadian journalist based in Montreal specializing in extremism, terrorism and national security. He wrote 24+ articles in Canada's largest news publications... incl. Ottawa Citizen, Montreal Gazette, The Hub etc. Only one problem. He doesn't exist. His photo is AI. No one ever asked to talk to him on the phone or videochat. This scam was only uncovered AFTER he tried to publish a story in TURKEY! (yes, the country) The real identity of the author remains a mystery, but he seemed to have had Pro-Moroccan leanings.

poetry is a fruitcake, or an aspic, in which the meaty, fruity morsels of beauty are suspended, in their tenuous perfection, within the necessary but unappetizing substrate of the prosaic and conventional

this is part of why ppl have such trouble w poems. they are so distracted by tough bread and jelly that they forget to savor the morsels. Every poem has at least one line that doesn't please us, or seems a blemish. but everything is needed to suspend the morsels where they belong
