Update
I am still working on a visit to Russia. There are obstacles to this but I’m researching ways around them.
(a) I am not allowed to fly from Europe. But I can fly from Istanbul.
(b) I can’t get holiday insurance here. But I can get it in Russia.
(c) I can’t use my credit card/debit cards in Russia but I can carry Euros and that will work.
(d) I’m a dialysis patient and no matter how I cut it I’ll need at least one session in Moscow. I don’t fancy walking into a dialysis room without understanding the language the staff speak. So I’m learning Russian.

French police just charged at protesters in Paris and started violently striking people entirely unprovoked according to an eyewitness on the ground:
“I’m here, the protesters didn't do anything. The police charged without any reason when we were just singing.”
The state is always violent, whether we are peaceful or not. It solely exists to serve capital, fund wars, and ensure the people obey the very system that’s rigged against us.

Many years ago I decided to get rid of everything and just walk to Santiago de Compostela, starting from home. That’s a little above 2,000 miles. For an old man.
I had the necessary support from my children, they somehow managed a suspension of disbelief.
I stayed my last night in Scotland with my son. He hugged me as I left and looked worried. I had a card from my oldest daughter which I can’t forget. She’d just scribbled on the inside:

If the SNP were serious about independence, the migrant group they'd target would be the Scottish diaspora.
