A game I feel doesn't get much recognition nowadays is Dungeons of Dredmor. Released in 2010, it managed to present old-school roguelikes in a super friendly and accessible way, while keeping a ton of depth & challenge. Without it I would've probably never tried ToME and DCSS :)
