Do consumer devices have any “drop test” specs ? My familiarity with rugged devices and testing gives me a good feel for this test equipment performing the proper drop - but we’re still looking at consumer equipment with least money spent on supporting drops.

🚨 BREAKING: Tech channel PhoneBuff just released a drop-test video for the iPhone Duo From the very first drop, the hinge mechanism jammed and couldn’t open fully flat. By the fourth drop, the impact traveling through the body totally killed the inner screen, the left half lost signal and the right half completely lost touch response. Although the outer screen still works, the unfolding function is basically disabled.

While we would love any manufacturer to pay attention to drops and supporting them. I’m doubtful they’re doing anything extra now that these devices have become facilities for case upgrades and repair programs to make additional money on service/support out of path failure.

Can you imagine running a project and having your vendor @JLCPCB make the wrong PCB, not once, but twice ? I guess operating sequentially or serially - the PCB being wrong holds up case manufacturing.

So @canary still hasn’t fixed their video player mode in their in app. You still cannot lower the volume of the incoming video stream to zero. It must have volume on. Meaning you have to allow whatever audio is happening in the room the camera is in coming out of your phone

This is such a weird player bug that I guess they’re just happy to force audio streaming even when you wanna set the audio to zero. You cannot.

In a quiet room and you wanna check on your dogs, but they’re barking ? Canary says they can’t make the volume of the incoming video to zero. You get forced audio from the app.
