My backstory for anyone interested - when I started supporting more density so more inner city neighbourhoods would be buzzy and interesting like Kings Cross - a detached house in middle Sydney was $350k.
Replying to @pfh007
Im an urbanist (aka yimby) but it has to be part of a coordinated approach of supply AND demand measures to result in housing affordability. I became interested in urbanism because I wanted lively neighbourhoods, not because I thought density alone would sufficiently reduce cost

Why do migrants to the west love these ignorant and disrespectful posts? I can't fathom moving to another country and calling its citizens idiots etc Unbelievable arrogance most westerners don't have.

Remember when you used to be able walk on the grass roof of Parliament House in Canberra? Stopping that should have been a major red flag....

Well, they should have built Green Square Town Centre when the market was hot... Time to lift their land tax.
'Property developer Mirvac has become the latest victim of the residential housing slump with sales of new homes plunging as the fallout from shock budget property tax changes and rising interest rates hit demand' 'Property prices fell at the fastest pace on record over the September quarter, down 4.7 per cent, with the downturn resulting in all capital cities falling in unison for the first time in 15 years' #ausbiz #housing #RBA theaustralian.com.au/busines…

Musing of the morning: funny that adults are full of excuses why they won't take public transport to their 9-5 yet ship their children off to the bus stop to the station to get to school and they manage fine 🤷

How long until progressives spin this as just bringing international diversity and talent into the business... ? They're already the useful idiots for corporate interests on most other topics.
'NAB cultivates tech talent in Vietnam, India as Australian jobs axed' 'The cost savings for NAB are immediate. A junior software engineer in Vietnam might cost the bank around $20,000 a year, compared to $80,000 or more to hire an equivalent Australian worker' (20% NAB workforce is already foreign based) 1/2 #ausbiz #NAB

Nothing makes people more anti-democratic as the topic of immigration and population. These hacks can't handle restricting immigration has majority support and would clear a referendum easily.

Can guarantee drunk bogan Aussies in Bali don't lecture Indonesians on their politics either. Like brb moving to Chile and calling all Chileans racist fascists because of their politics despite being fresh to the country. Major ick.

Usual 15 minute weekend frequency today on T1 Western Line when everyone from T2/5 has to board these trains as well due to trackwork... It struggles when there isn't trackwork on as it is ffs. One line pulling the weight of what is three seperate lines on a weekday
Western Line needs a 7 minute frequency on weekends or Harris Park to Lidcombe removed from the stopping pattern, excl Granville for transfers. Way too overcrowded and been this way for years. T2/3 trains are dead by comparison.

Meanwhile T8 whinge line has plenty of weekend capacity compared to T1/4.

Losing time dwelling due to overcrowding too 🙄

Less people are going to want to switch from T8 to metro at Sydenham when it arrives completely full from Bankstown. Mark my words. It's a different story ATM when the metro is empty from Sydenham.

Imagine moving the people imminently moving into new units in Arncliffe, Carlton or Allawah looking at the poor 30 min frequencies and deciding to retain or buy a car instead. Really needs to be 15min Freq before all these people move in, or you'll lose them as PT users

My view is they should have gone ahead with the timetable, then made adjustments to return some via Sydenhams if demanded for T8. And made adjustments to T4 in accordance with reliability to remove timetable padding and decrease trip times by removing unpop services
