The #Isles Ship 14 - we discuss the 25-26 season. Our final thoughts.
Bad Brandon humor, optimistic Eric, Negative Mike and absent John (sadly) discuss the offense, the defense, the GM and coach...and add some grades along the way.
Its obviously not simple. My largest concern remains why we felt the need to send out the sort of pieces that could draft that sort of player for a guy who has been producing decently his top 6 minutes but generally loses them, if we wanted another Duclair we could've signed one.
You'd think that consistently losing to teams that accumulate talented players would convince the #isles to try doing that, but here we are again, trying to find "the system" that will make the garbage on the team somehow luck into the playoffs again.
Love this dude #Isles
He had a couple games where he didn't get a point but kept working.
I'm not even sticking my tongue out at fans who didn't like him or think he was worth keeping.
Its at the people that said he can't play in the NHL, you're just plain wrong man.
The fact the Isles have been in almost every game this year without it is special. I've seen a lot of bad Islanders teams in my life and they'd rarely play 10 straight games of going toe to toe for large segments. Hopefully Barzal gets back after the road trip.
Imagine if this #isles team had someone like Wyatt Johnston? Dallas is a very good team. Would hope one day NY gets pieces like that.
Crazy how the Senators start winning lots of games when they get just decent goaltending

A huge part of the #Isles📷 very good start to the season.
Remember that game against the Lightning where fans were harsh on Sorokin?
His GSAx from that game is what AVERAGE goaltending looks like in the NHL. Thats what teams get most nights.
That was a "bad" game for him
Every NHL team's goalie tandem, ranked by goals saved above expected (2026-27 · through Oct 23)

2. Oettinger · DeSmith (#TexasHockey) +10.7
3. Sorokin · Varlamov (#Isles) +9.2
Last: Lankinen · Meriläinen (#Canucks) −9.9
Where does your team's tandem rank?

Scoring chances last night were 26-24 #isles with high danger chances at 14-11 for NY, so the shots were a little misleading.
At home against a struggling Kings team, you simply have to grab those two points with Dal, Nash, Minn and Edm on the horizon.
Once again, no finish.
Devils cooked here I cant lie
WE'VE GOT A BLOCKBUSTER! 👀
Connor Hellebuyck is headed to the @NJDevils!
ALT Top: Connor Hellebuyck on ice in a Jets uniform. Below the photo is the Devils logo on a red background, “trade” in black text on a white background, and the Jets logo on a dark blue background. Bottom: in white text on a black background reads, “New Jersey receives G - Connor Hellebuyck. Winnipeg receives F - Nick Bjugstad, F - Alexander Command, F - Dawson Mercer, G - Nico Daws, 2027 7th-round pick, 2029 2nd-round pick”.
This might sound rude, but I really hope we get more than that for brokering this trade. If I'm not mistaken, the devils have to clear like seven mil of cap space but winnipeg could eat the other half... #Isles
I wonder if the #Isles have looked at Nino Niederreiter as a potential salary-offset piece if they get involved in a Hellebuyck trade.
Niederreiter is in the final year of his three-year deal carrying a $4 million AAV.

Hearing Darche is involved here. #isles
Scott, I really enjoy your work. But you should either brush up on the situation or talk with a fan or two.

I am the first to criticize Darche but I'm pretty sure english is his second language and I do not think what he said had malicious intent behind that.
THAT BEING SAID: Sometimes I wish the Isles had a PR guy 😂😂😂
Calling a player a bitch or boo boo boy isn’t going to make them come back any quicker #Isles
