Credit to Councillor Tarik Khan who voted against the application. @Tarikahmedkhan Those who voted for it: Councillors Akhtar, Brady, Khan (Rabina), Mukit, Pierce, Rahman, Whitehead
Tower Hamlets approved the application to dismantle the gasholders last night by 7:1 votes. This means they will be removed, put in storage with frankly no guarantee that they will come back to decorate 2 blocks of luxury flats.
Please watch the Tower Hamlets strategic development committee meeting at 6pm today where the Gasholders planning application will be decided. towerhamlets.public-i.tv/cor…

Developer’s heritage advice plays down the gasholders’ significance: eg cover photo of a lamp post and pizza joint ! #MontagueEvans @SAVEBrit @cockneycampaign

There are better ideas for preserving the gas holders in place, with more green space. And still profitable, viability study shows. Pls continue to sign petition tinyurl.com/vsatzq8
Stop press: planning committee on Thursday 24th Sept 6pm will decide on the fate of the Gasholders. Will our historic assets survive the luxury flats plan? Please watch the meeting, we’ll post link on the day.

The Canal Club Community @canal_community at Bethnal Green, #TowerHamlets, is in danger of losing its Community Centre, play park, & amazing, inspirational Community #Garden. Communities NEED spaces like this. Once lost, they're gone forever.

Today we remember those who lost their lives at #BethnalGreen tube station on 3 March 1943. 173 people died after crowds rushed into the station after an air-raid siren sounded. Crews from @LFBTowerHamlets attended a remembrance service at the Stairway to Heaven Memorial

We say Gasholder No.2 - the smaller one - should contain a PARK. StWilliam (aka Berkley homes) propose to fill both with flats. Their significance will be totally lost. Please sign the petition change.org/p/tower-hamlets-s…
