@danheld providing @zeroblock app to me in 2013 or so helped me to educate myself on Bitcoin, and get 100% hooked. Some real talk on stage how bitcoin only maximalism lead to a lot of pain (see coldcard) and we should embrace professional openness and how maximalism bitcoin only can also lead to isolation and mistakes - let’s open the gates!

software supply chain attacks are the biggest software security risks rn
What’s going to happen to open source? A prediction: Dependencies are over. The same Brotli vulnerability impacted .NET, Node, Bun, Envoy and more. Dependencies are too big of a target. When rewriting a dependency is one prompt away, why take the risk?

Open source will likely die (in its current form): - adoption of libraries will still be increasing for now - but no one will know or care which specific library is being used underneath - many folks will just build zero dep apps from scratch - clean-room rewrites are easy (ppl will ignore GPL etc) At the same time: - everything including closed source is easily reversed and cloned, more open code will get shared

If you work in a cybersecurity-sensitive industry, use only self-hosted, open-source password managers. All software-as-a-service solutions are crooked in one way or another. Why take unnecessary risk which you can avoid cheaply.

Binance is a Bank. move your money off in self-custody.

Trump’s closing message of "vote like I’m on the ballot" is a fine example of "Be careful what you wish for, because you might get it."
“Candidate quality matters” says the guy who picked the SC and Texas senate candidates. Drove the NC GOP incumbent from office. Oh and he campaigned with historic disapproval numbers while begging the voters to pretend he was on the ballot.

i don’t understand. do people not use hardware security keys? how can you even have a software key flying around on your machine that can be copied, exported, send and shared with someone? keys belong into an secure element where they should stay and can’t be exported. protection always must he 2-factor or more even with that - meaning a single key can not and should not be able to open any box or do i get all of this wrong? with my own in mind, who wants to carry such a burden alone, yet think is smart enough to „protect“ a single thing that can be stolen. if it can be stolen; it will be stolen i urge friends and fam to move towards hardware security keys. @nuri smartcard is a good start you can get a fully working solution for 10€ that’s two fucking coffees just do it! it’s fun, nothing to lose.
CoinEx Founder: Binance Incident Exposed Three Entirely Avoidable Security and Operational Flaws Haipo Yang, Founder of CoinEx, stated that the recent Binance security breach exposed at least three critical mistakes that were entirely avoidable, underscoring a failure of operational discipline rather than a lack of sophisticated technology. First, development and operations environments lacked strict isolation; production access should be restricted to dedicated hardware free of third-party software, separating daily communication and browsing onto independent devices. Second, the operations stack lacked meaningful two-factor authentication (2FA), enabling full production compromise via a single leaked credential rather than enforcing hardware-bound MFA through tools like AWS Session Manager. Third, the MPC multi-signature setup existed in name only, as signers failed to conduct substantive independent verifications, causing the entire scheme to collapse upon a single node breach; Yang emphasized that multisig mechanisms are only effective when signers maintain mutual distrust and independently validate each raw transaction rather than blind-signing upstream requests.
