NH Teachers make an average of $69k per year and pay union dues so the union leadership can make this.

Parents wanted their kids classified as "Special ED " in school, for added attention. Now look a few years down the road, and we have a Congress full of Special Ed kids.

It makes public schools compete for the vouchers. More competition in the market. Better quality. Freer.

I keep hearing people say “the state” should give more money to schools. 🙄 State education funding comes from your property taxes. It’s right there on the tax bill. Moving the funding from the local column to the state column changes nothing. You’re still the source.

The decline looks like it started in 2013. What happened then, what changed in schools or otherwise that would affect academic performance so drastically?
This is a global crisis. Blame the Teachers Unions, or the Department of Education, or the One Ring that rules them all, it doesn't matter. Parents need to step up now.

My youngest daughter had her 1st day of public high school yesterday. She said one of her teachers proudly stated "my daughter is trans and I am an LGBTQ ally, if your home is not a safe space and you want to talk to me about your situation, I am here for you". Look, I really don't care who grown adults want to sleep with. Whatever. Gay, straight, trans, knock yourself out. But this crap has NO place in schools. How insane is it that a school has become a place where we should all discuss our sexuality, who we are attracted to, and what kind of sex we want to have? And why are we supposed to think it's fine and dandy if we talk to a random teacher about all of this deeply personal information instead of our immediate family/parents? When did schools become places where we openly discuss sexual preference? Why is this even a thing? It should be grounds for immediate termination for all teachers. I'm glad my daughter isn't confused. She immediately thought this was insane and came home and told me how crazy it was. Lots of other kids don't have that luxury.
This is what dropping your kids off at school is like in 2026. This is what boomers will never understand. The world they grew up in and raised children in has been destroyed and gone. Institutional trust is now 0. This is why homeschooling is exploding.

And then she started her own school. Read more about it.
"I need to begin by saying this plainly: we escaped our local school district. I do not use that word lightly. Escaped. "I felt betrayed by people who were supposed to partner with parents, and I haunted that the system I had entrusted with my children saw me as undeserving to know what was happening with them."

Incredible smoke and mirrors game from the lefties. State aid has increased over the years (they claim it has decreased as an excuse to raise local property taxes and propose an income tax) all while gov’t enrollment has decreased!!**
Has state aid to public school districts been cut in the last decade? Here are the state appropriations numbers by year:
