4. Teachers Unions are simultaneously the solution and problem
Im a member of the union & love my union. However they also shield the worst in our profession. The ones you have to cover for every single day bc they just don’t care & know they can’t be fired. It’s frustrating
2. Schools test too much (surprise!)…
For ex: if you were a G1 ESOL student, you sat through 8 separate tests in the last 3 weeks for between 12-15 hours total.
They are 6 years old. That can barely read, & some dont speak English….wth are we doing?
1. Dept of Eds will highlight every reason your school is failing, except one - staff vacancies…they avoid it like a water fountain in the pandemic
Like no, we’re 70% staffed with no subs. Do the math & tell me how many SPED/ESOL being serviced or how real instruction happens
Got a new principal. One with a shared vision, so I’ve taken on more admin responsibilities this year due to staff vacancies. Also taking on leadership roles in every aspect - testing, technology, scheduling, school imprv etc
And this is what Ive noticed from behind the curtain
If you’re sharing an Amazon #wishlist this summer, don’t forget to tag your local representatives. They’re not exempt from our digital panhandling

In conversations with two different podcasts @Unpropodcast and @Edu_Chaos, I shared my story and got closure for my experience. I continued to grow and connect with other education professionals on social media and took my #TpT to the next level.

It’s not just Chicago. This teacher forced to instruct 20 other students around a traumatic meltdown is so relatable.
Admin: can you cover 8th grade piano class this afternoon?
Me: hell yeah, im a modern day Jerry Lee Lewis!
Admin: 👀
me: bad example 😅😅 **walks away awkwardly**
If we had #ThanksgivingClapBacks for teachers, what would y’all say to your colleagues?
