If we want to tackle the NEETs crisis, we’ve got to get businesses involved. Starting by reducing costs for employers so they can take a chance on that young person who doesn’t have as much experience as older hires.
Minimum wage hikes and tax increases are only making it harder for the job creators.

🧵The Commonwealth is an anachronism in the 21st century – an imperial hangover that shows no signs of abatement but is instead getting worse. As King Charles addressed his subjects in Antigua and Barbuda ahead of this week’s Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting (CHOGM), our Prime Minister was throwing out statements about possible apologies and even reparations to atone for Britain’s involvement in the Atlantic slave trade.

Slavery reparations claims are gaining political momentum, even as the economic case behind them remains largely untested.
In a new IEA paper, Professor Doug Stokes @profdws examines whether Britain’s prosperity was really built on slavery, weighs that against what abolition cost the country, and argues the real priority should be the 50 million people still in slavery today.

Slavery was abominable, but it is not our responsibility to prop up dyfunctional Caribbean states.
And a state apology will only embolden those who want to extort us for billions in reparations.
If anything, we should reconsider the Commonwealth entirely.

Imagine getting elected to Parliament, taking £100k of taxpayer money, and your biggest achievement is banning gagging during a blowjob.
Nanny state final boss.
Nobody wants to be seen publicly defending porn.
So the atrocious government overreach of banning the most niche, random, collection of kinks will go unchallenged.
So, fine. I'll do it.
This is atrocious. It's the state trying to make claims on what is acceptable in sex and what isn't.
This isn't "protecting women."
Ever considered women might... actually enjoy this stuff?

Edinburgh's trams were SHUT DOWN in the 1950s.
20 years ago, the Council APPROVED plans to rebuild the network.
It’s STILL not finished. Only part of it was ever built.
On the 10th December, councillors can BRING BACK THE TRAM.
Time to FINISH the job. Support the campaign 👇

An excellent piece from @EdwardJGrainger here. I would also add that the Low Pay Commission needs to either be abolished or have its powers severely curtailed.

🏹 Great article by @EdwardJGrainger in @ConHome on the strains that the National Living Wage is putting on businesses, and the impacts on hiring the next generation.
Our research suggests freezing the NLW for 5 years could help up to 600,000 into work👇

Pay must be linked to performance, but all too often, it isn’t.
Great to see @RupertLowe10 holding NHS bosses to account at yesterday’s Public Accounts Committee.
Accountability matters.

Funding EU schemes can be dangerous...
I wrote about giving money to 'EU development schemes' when at @tfa4freedom. £££ of UK taxpayers money went to countries, some of which were not in the EU, and into the pockets of dictators like Assad in Syria.

Demands for slavery reparations amount to international blackmail and giving in will only invite further claims.
Writing in the Daily Mail, Professor Doug Stokes @profdws draws on his new IEA paper, The Atonement Complex, to explain why Britain should reject demands for reparations👇
