Having had the absolute pleasure and honor of being in her presence on more than one occasion, I can tell you that the warmth radiating from her was never for the cameras—it was the pulse of who she was to the core. She shattered glass ceilings with a smile, never once putting herself above anyone, but instead reaching out her hand to pull everyone up with her.
She used her platform, her resources, and her extraordinary spirit to pour into the communities that needed it most. Whether standing firmly for racial equality, elevating women, or promoting literacy by putting millions of books into the hands of children who had none, Dolly chose a life of genuine, selfless service.
Even at eighty, losing her feels devastatingly too soon because we need the light, the honesty, and the massive heart of Dolly now more than ever.

Everything I am, and everything I’ve built, started with him.
My father, the late Dr. Edgar Willis Williams, was a biochemist whose groundbreaking work helped send the first primate into outer space. At home, he taught my siblings and me the power of purpose and discipline, giving us the blueprint to master our education, our finances, and our paths.
Following in his scientific footsteps, I earned credentials in biology and chemistry—along with theology—and used that foundation to break barriers across industries. It carried me from Wall Street, as one of the first Black men to run the Municipal Bonds Division at Smith Barney (now Morgan Stanley Wealth Management), to becoming the first Black salon owner in Beverly Hills. That same rigor helped me build a self-made empire, secure generational wealth, write books, and star in and produce my own reality series... going on to become the globally known “Emperor of Hair.”
He also taught me that true success requires service. I’ve had the privilege of speaking for major corporations like Microsoft and UnitedHealthcare, and standing alongside the former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Regina Benjamin to lead healthy hair initiatives in underserved communities.
Above all, his guidance shaped who I am as a dedicated father, a proud grandfather, and a man who deeply values family—including the lasting partnership and bond I share with Jackée.
They say reach for the stars, but my father showed my siblings and me how to touch them. Thank you, Dad, for setting the standard and showing us how to live with intention. Your legacy lives on in everything I do!

What a weekend! Standing on stage at the inaugural Hollywood Multimedia Honors on June 25th to receive the Hair Icon Award was a moment I won’t soon forget. To be recognized globally as the undisputed Emperor of Hair is a beautiful reminder that the decades of relentless execution, sacrifice, and passion were worth every single second. I deeply respect what this organization stands for, and I am excited to build and grow with them for future ceremonies.
And let’s talk about the #BETAwards weekend—without a doubt, one of the most electric, flawlessly executed, and best celebrations we’ve seen in years. The energy was unmatched, the culture was on full display, and it leaves me incredibly inspired for what’s next.
