Not one but TWO patents!
Earlier this month, we received two patents for technologies we use with our generator:
1. High-Speed Switching Apparatus for Electromagnetic Coils: a critical component of our pulsed power approach to fusion
2. Hybrid Gettering Diffusion Pump: helps create the vacuum conditions needed for fusion to occur
These patents represent years of building and iteration, and I'm especially proud of the ingenuity of the team who are solving problems that have never been solved before.
Congratulations to Andrew Hine, Christopher Pihl, James Pihl, Jim True, George Votroubek, Anthony Pancotti, and everyone else who contributed to this work.

Washington has been at the forefront of fusion energy. We're proud to be building here!
I spoke at CleanTech Alliance in Richland today to celebrate Fusion Week in Washington state.
Earlier this year, Washington issued the world's first regulatory licenses for a commercial fusion energy facility.
We have the first company in the world to break ground on a commercial fusion energy facility.
We have the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory conducting cutting-edge research and an extraordinary foundation of innovation in our state for AI, life sciences, aerospace, and more.
Now we have an opportunity to become the place where fusion moves from the laboratory to the power grid. Washington state is ready to win that race.

How do you build and scale up technology that has never existed before?
Meet the Demonstrator Circuit Unit: a testbed for validating the hardware, manufacturing approaches, and system-level performance needed for commercial scale fusion.

Making moves!
Tiny Merge’s compression section has made its way from production floor to machine, bringing us one step closer to machine operations.

Fusion has been a long time coming, but good things take time (and a lot of work).
What I’m certain of though, is that fusion is worth it. Abundant energy is needed... desperately. So we’re doing the work, day in and day out, to make it happen.

In 2022, we opened Carina, our machine shop. Since then, we’ve added more machines, more machinists, more engineers, and more capability.

Some problems are hard: autonomous vehicles, humanoid robotics, solid-state batteries.
Some are extremely hard: supersonic travel, crewed missions to Mars, commercial fusion.
Many people run away from the extra hard problems.
We need the ones who run toward them.

250 years ago, Americans declared independence. Since then, this country has produced some of the most consequential technological leaps in human history: the transistor, the grid, the internet, the moon landing. Each one changed what was possible for the entire world.
Fusion is next, and it's being built here.
Happy Fourth!

That's a wrap on the first-ever Fusion Supply Chain Trade Show.
A massive thank you to our sponsors, speakers, exhibitors, and everyone who participated for making this inaugural, sold-out event such a success. We've already started talking about where to take it next year...

Two licenses and one massive milestone!
Today Helion received two licenses from the Washington State Department of Health for our Orion facility in Malaga, WA, making us the first company in the world to secure the regulatory licenses needed for a fusion power plant.

LightWave 3D, the multi-Emmy Award-winning 3D graphics software, entered a new chapter following its acquisition by LightWave Digital in April 2023.
The latest release, LightWave 3D 2026, introduces nearly 30 new features, including:
MotoRig – a comprehensive vehicle rigging and animation system
IVY Generator - Ivy is a procedural vine growth plugin for LightWave 3D. It grows ivy meshes across the surface.
Spider Web - It builds realistic cobweb and orb-weaver geometry that drapes between scene objects, sags under gravity.
THOR – a powerful object replacement plugin for creating realistic procedural lightning effects
Integrated 2D and 3D tracking tools
Advanced Placement tools
Snow and Rain systems
RIPR2 - next-generation viewport rendering engine
And many more enhancements, with additional features already in development.
The Media Pack contains two booklets and the Brand Guidelines, including:
• Media in the Industries – highlighting the major tools and features introduced over the past three years
• LightWave 3D 2026 Features Guide – providing a detailed overview of the latest tools and functionality in the 2026 release
Both publications include links to demonstrations, tutorials, and examples showcasing the capabilities of the new tools and workflows.

Together with UC Berkeley we are announcing the laser phase plate - a breakthrough in atomic resolution imaging. This is the brightest continuous wave laser in the world, 100 million times the intensity of the surface of the sun.
Phase contrast plays an important role in microscopy, but it was thought close to impossible for electron microscopy, where it would require interfering with an electron beam. Holger Mueller and Robert Glaeser proposed exactly this using a standing wave laser. It has taken over 15 years to make this a reality. Biohub partnered with UC Berkeley and Mueller to support this work and to engineer and build the technology.
Contrast has been the critical barrier to achieving atomic resolution imaging of the cell. In cryo-electron tomography, a cellular imaging technology that uses electron microscopy, the low contrast makes it impossible to resolve anything but the largest proteins within their cellular context. The laser phase plate removes that barrier.
With advances in AI this breakthrough in contrast will start to open up a new frontier in structural biology, that will allow us to see the molecular machines of the cell, and how they assemble into far more complex and dynamic systems, and understand how they work.
