At some level I understand Saleh’s decision to ‘assist’ KB because Dr. Kizza Besigye treated Gen. Salim Saleh after he was shot during the bush war. The incident occurred during the Battle of Bukalabi in February 1983, in the Luwero Triangle. Salim Saleh was shot in both arms and injured around the lower abdomen while commanding NRA fighters against government troops. Besigye treated Saleh’s wounds. The best way that Saleh can pay back now is to command Baguma to follow the law and grant KB bail tomorrow so that Besigye can get treated by his own doctors too.

My first action was to take him from the prison to a proper medical centre where he is currently being attended to. It's the same bed I would be in myself if I were under intensive conditions. Besigye was promptly taken to the Joint Clinical Research Centre, which he helped to establish in the early years of the war,” the decorated General revealed.
