I came to the UK as an international student.
After graduating, I went through job interviews, and secured a job on my own. Iโve now been working in the UK on a work visa for 2.5 years.
Iโve paid my taxes and never claimed a single penny in benefits or government financial assistance.
Under the current proposed immigration reforms, I could face a 10-year route to permanent residency simply because Birminghamโs salary doesnโt meet the proposed 50K threshold.
I came here legally. I followed the rules. I worked hard to build a future here.
I understand that immigration policies need to evolve, but changing the rules for people who are already here feels deeply unfair.
We made major life decisions based on the rules that existed when we arrived.
Iโm not asking for special treatment. Iโm asking for fairness, stability, and recognition of the years weโve already contributed.
Changing the rules is one thing. Changing them for people who have already committed years of their lives is another.

The FA has outlined new diversity targets for England's coaching staff by 2028.
The governing body wants 25% of England men's national team coaches to come from Black, Asian, Mixed or other ethnic minority backgrounds.
It is also targeting 50% female representation across England women's coaching staff, while aiming for 45% across its overall workforce, with a stretch target of 50%.
The targets form part of the FA's wider strategy to improve representation across English football.
