A Japanese destroyer firing its main gun, and the smoke is what gets me. That cloud is mostly propellant gas, which is why the whole mount vanishes for a second. Looks like a 5 inch class gun. The shell alone weighs roughly 30 kg, and the gun can throw them out at around 20 a minute. That's about 600 kg of steel in the air every minute, plus the powder behind it. Video credit: jmsdf_pr

Looks like a Sarmat don't know for sure It doesn't light its engines inside the silo. Gas pushes it up and out first, then the engines ignite once it's clear, so the silo doesn't take the full blast. The orange-brown cloud points to liquid fuel, which is toxic and harder to handle than the solid fuel in many other missiles. Reported launch weight is over 200 tonnes. A ballistic missile launching out of the ocean. Looks like a Trident doesn't it It doesn't fire its rocket inside the submarine. Pressure from gas pushes it out of the tube first, and the rocket only lights once it's above the water. Igniting it inside would damage the sub. The thin spike on the nose slides out after launch to cut air drag. The whole missile weighs about 59 tonnes at liftoff. Video credit: astronomy4u
